It's not a red. But it's a yellow. Was it a deliberate trip?
Either way, it's not more than a knock on against basset even if
it's an accident.

Impressed is pushing it a bit.
Beard was more noticeable for the right reasons.

I think he did alright, very pleased for him to find a club,
just didn’t really fall in good attacking positions for him but
has solid.
A goodish start

Bassett is a proven Premiership wing and I’m confident he’ll do
well for us.
He’ll have better games for us than yesterday but with the
context of making his debut in on a poor team performance, I
think he did fine.

I clearly haven't kept up with the laws on this but I can't
remember the last time I saw a trip - I missed the first 30
minutes of our game. But my understanding was that offences
committed by players out of the game, i.e. on the floor, were
deemed worse than if they were actually in the game. Anyway, I'm
obviously becoming a dinosaur. 😁

I thought trips used to be red because of the danger involved.
Didn't Betson break someone's leg with a trip? Hope I'm not
labelling the wrong player. I'm sure there was another incident
with a trip/broken leg as well.
As for Bassett - I don't remember him doing anything that
impressed me. I was willing him to do something good and
hopefully get a try on debut but his most memorable thing was
spilling a pass.

Sort of - it basically removes any doubt that it's a deliberate
and cynical act. You don't really get a red for that though.

He looked pretty exhausted to me so likely needs a few more
matches to really impress.

A Wasps fan posted on the London Irish site that they thought he
was doing his best to help London Irish win.
