Basset - impressed

I thought our ‘injury cover’ was excellent today. Committed,
quick, realised when he made an error and wanted to rectify,
level headed.

Have to agree, shame we couldn't free him up enough to get that
debut score but a very competent start.

He was pretty good. I think he’ll slot in really well

Made a couple of errors but the knock on only happened because
one of the LI players tripped him up. Otherwise good game and
remarkable given how rubbish the last few weeks must have been
for the Wasps lads.

Well that will upset LI even more as the citing officer will
obviously spot that and it will be a long ban.

Why? It's been years since a trip was a red card offence.

No, it still is if it's deliberate.

No. If it's not deliberate, it's not an offence. Deliberate
trips have been yellow cards for years. See very recently Owen
Farrell against Exeter. There have been others. I genuinely
can't remember the last time a red was given for a trip with no
other aggravating factors.
Enjoyed Luke Pearce explaining Bernard Le Roux’s yellow
card to him, as if he was introducing him to the sport: “That’s
a trip and, in rugby, a trip is a yellow card.”
Well ok that obviously is the case but I find it hard to see how
a player on the ground, i.e. out of the game, would not get a
red card for sticking their leg out and tripping someone.

Why would it be a red card? I know it used to be. But what's the
actual justification for it being red and not yellow?
