I think we need both. I can see Ted going to Bath though
although surprised he hasn't had anything announced yet. Ted
would be the long term investment in one that none of our 6's
can offer us. I think if we free up Lewies,Louw, and then from
next season get rid of Matthews and Wallace we can possibly
swing it. Wallace and Matthews could easily have their slots
taken by academy

I think that Kerrod needs to focus on being either a TH or a LH.
While he is down in the pecking order, it is kind of handy that
he can slot in on both sides.
But - maybe with a definite place up for grabs, he could focus
on just being a loosehead. Then we may see quite an improvement.

A couple of years ago there were calls on this board to ditch
Collier and install Kerrod as first choice. I've a lot of
confidence that Bomb can get him back to that level.
That said, I'd agree with you on Launchbury - possibly a good
choice in the short term, but he's not going to be around that
much longer.
Overall, I'd rather we were building for the future. We showed
on Sunday what we can do with a relatively unstarry back five;
I'd rather we had players who fit the game we're trying to play
than chase after big names. If some of the players who fit turn
out to be big names, and we can afford them, then so much the
better. But we've consistently done better with unheralded and
homegrown players than with big names.

I think that you can often ignore some of these calls - along
with people who were pretty angry about us signing Herbst.
There are quite a few calls to get rid of players when they get
an injury. Even though these players often come back and fit
into the team quite well.
Also, I think that there is a broader picture behind binning
players.
E.g. it would have been a bold decision to bin George Lowe when
he was injured. Lowe was a fan favourite and I remember the
reception that he was given when he played his first A-league
game on his return.
Ditto - there are lots of calls to get rid of Wallace. But, in
the current team, Evans takes a knock and we are missing a
turnover specialist. And - we have no idea what his wages are.
Luckily though, these decisions are being made by professionals
who actually know the salaries/contract lengths/medical
facts/etc. and not by people on this board :-)

True. Although I think it’s always much easier to say in
hindsight. I don’t mind saying I was one of those who thought
Collier’s race was run and Kerrod deserved to be first choice.
At the time, Kerrod was playing well and it really did look like
Collier was done for after slipping out of the reckoning for a
while. Thankfully he came back and I hope he can do the same
following this injury too.
I hope Kerrod can also get back to the level where he can really
push to start.
It might be blasphemy, but I feel like Wilco is a little bit
overrated .. I’d sooner keep him, but he is replaceable.

We then go from probably the best two props in the pram to....

Good shout on Davison - good enough to have been on the England
radar but not consistently away with the training squads.
Probably a "no" on Williams from me too but on the topic of
being heavily penalised, it wasn't that long ago that Will
Collier probably took that award (and clearly he turned out
pretty nicely in the end). A different environment could make a
big difference, but I'm not sure we could afford him -
especially if he is away with England a lot.
Probably just ask Joe to write a list of who he hates
scrummaging against the most and work your way down it until you
get to the right balance of ability and price.

Bath starting to build a good squad now and thats a great
signing.
I would still take Shields if he's available, but with Lewies
and Chisholm seemingly some way off I hope we address both
positions soon. I played 6, so more than happy to step up.
