       OT-Minty for England?

Seen that Minty is on the radar to replace Seibold.
Does he really have the pedigree to be an International defence
coach? He was part of a disastrous set up at Quins, did ok on a
secondment in SA (with an already strong side), Newcastle not
       exactly renowned for their defence.
There must be better and more proven options out there.

Not sure most of the coaches Eddie has worked with in recent
times have had any pedigree... Apart from Mitchell and the scrum
coach....... most of them seem to be up and comers, or people
out of work......I get the distinct impression no one really
       wants to work with him.
Even Borthwick and Gustard were relative novices......

The short answer is definitely not IMO.
He got a bit of an easy ride leaving Quins as his underwhelming
performance was either blamed upon the set up at the time or the
challenge of adapting to coaching your mates.
Sharks went OK, but Newcastle was similarly disappointing. I
think he’s still very much in the learning phase which isn’t
really what we need for England.

Cockerill is not what I’d have described as an ‘up and comer’.
Seriously though, Seibold is no great loss, but with a year to
the RWC, we really need to be looking at a proven operator, not
Nick Easter or any other ‘up and comer’.

Agreed - Cockers was a free agents having been let go by his
previous employer.....so falls in to the second category.....
       out of work

A quins legend and a great player but I can't see how his
coaching record remotely supports such an appointment

If the RFU give someone who actually hasn’t been very good at
his job a very important role, then it will make the RFUs
       judgement even more laughable.

What about Steve Diamond? Along with Eddie and Cockerill, it
would give England the least likeable coaching set up in world
       rugby. [emoji23]
Seriously though, my opinion of Diamond completely changed
during his time at Worcester. Even before this season, he got
them playing to a different standard and undoubtedly brought
them together as a team. I wouldn’t want him around for the long
term, but I think it’s fair to say England often don’t play to
the sum of their parts. Given that Diamond specialises in
solving this kind of problem, I wonder whether he might be an
       asset?
