       Blimey - Joe Launchbury

Appreciate that the potential of Launchbury joining us was
mentioned else where, but that was on the basis of a ‘Ruck’
article, which for me barely ranks above ‘a man in a pub told
       me’.
However the front page of today’s Rugby Paper has a short,
matter-of-fact story ‘Launchbury set to join Quins’ that appears
       to confirm the rumour.
Obviously there’s a lot going on, but wow, that would be quite a
       signing!

I reckon he will be injury cover for Lewies, so cap exempt (the
400k injury fund). Also would not shock me if its for a few
months rather than the whole season (bit like the Worcs boys
       Sarries signed).
I wonder if there are a few players from Wasps/Worcs that will
be happy to take lower wages this season just to get some game
time and also to get some money coming in. Not their usual
salary but anything is better than nothing. Then next season
they get a proper deal somewhere.

I've just read both articles. It would be great news if he did
(even if for a short time as honkytonk says). In my opinion, we
have missed a Matt Symons-type player and he would more than fit
the bill (and maybe help our younger locks along the way). If
the rumour is true, bring it on !!!!

I'd say Herbst hs stepped into the Symons void nicely. And with
the strength in depth that SA have at lock, he's unlikely to be
called up. IF Launchberry is set to join us, I do wonder if
that's an ominous sign with regard to Lewies?

I take your point Quinky, but sooner or later Herbst will need a
rest or take a knock. Yes, it is a bit worrying about Stephan,
       isn't it.

I’ve heard worrying rumours it isn’t a when he returns, it will
be ‘if’ he returns. No end sight to his injury unfortunately.
Launchbury would be a huge signing and statement. One of our
stability as a club and two as an option for the rest of the
season. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of
Herbst, Lam and Hammond so far as I was worried about the impact
of losing our two regular starters from last year, but I don’t
think we’ve really felt it. That being said, Launchbury is a
world class option to have and he’ll be desperate to stay fit
and get back into England contention for the World Cup. No
better place to do that than Quins and Lamb & Hammond will learn
a huge amount from him. He is also a great leader which is no
       bad thing either

Could be a 'future' thing too. Lewies could have a contract
ending this season. If he is struggling to return. It's be
foolish to pass up such a good replacement. Get him in, if you
can. then wave bye bye to see Steven at end of the season.
Bit like the Finn Smith deal at Saints.
My only concern is that Launch does pick up a few injuries too.
       Bloody good player though.....

Today an illustration of the sort of player we are missing, and
this guy fits the bill perfectly.
