Surprised by the attacks on the ref. A few errors but overall I
thought he was fine, and comments about him deserving abuse and
not being allowed to ref again are hysterical nonsense. Mind
you, having just watched the game through (wasn't able to watch
it live) a lot of the thread seems to be historical nonsense. We
weren't even as bad as we were in the first half against Exeter!
We were very poor in the first half and our problems are the
same every week, but they're problems that are only solved by
having players come back. Perhaps accept whatever problems
Taulani has with his game and actually pick him ahead of the
utterly out of his depth White? Kenningham was very poor again,
particularly at the breakdown in attack and defence, and
Jurevicius can't do any worse there.
But ultimately we need some of Dombrandt, Lawday, Chisholm,
Lewies, Walker available again. You won't win many when you're
getting beaten up all the time and literally can't clean people
out.

Have to agree with Jammy about the ref, I blame the TMO for not
calling back the forward pass. It was so obvious but these
things can get missed on the field. Ultimately Leicester played
to their strengths, destroyed us at the breakdown and didn’t
have to do a lot in attack other than let their forwards do
their thing on the 5m line.
Im really disappointed with Quins today, I love the way we play
but sometimes you have to look at the situation and get some
points to get the scoreboard going. To keep turning down points
and going to the corner when we never looked like scoring (apart
from the Northmore chance) was ridiculous IMO. Then Leicester go
up the other end and score again. We never looked like breaking
down their defence and too many of our players had an off day or
were just not good enough.
On the positive I hope this can be a turning point for our
season and that Matson asserts some control and try and drum
into us that sometimes you need a plan b when plan a stops
working.
Congratulations to Leicester though, by far the better team and
coming off a couple of bad results you could see they were fired
up and we were undercooked and there for the taking.

I don't think we needed to take the points when on offer
necessarily, but we could have opted for more scrums given our
lineout woes. Our scrum was pretty dominant.
Some of these comments about the ref are really clutching at
straws.
I'd hoped that run of games might have resulted in some
performances from white like we saw last season, but he might as
well not have been playing. He's not that small but just doesn't
carry effectively. His defence is pretty decent I think, but
needs vast improvement in attack

The defence actually looked decent yesterday, the problem was
that it just ended up getting too much practice. Conceding four
tries is an odd way of complementing the defence but it was
because we coughed up so much ball in attack. As nearly
everyone has said, the breakdown was one of the two major
problems (lineout the other) - that's down to Tigers aggression
that we couldn't match and personnel in the back-row. A few
have said we're a bit on the lightweight side at the moment and
it showed yesterday.
On the ref - I thought we was alright, though occasionally did
seem to allow Leicester to clear out a long way past the ball
which helped them on their rucks, I think they got pinged once
for it.
I know we've only had Tabai for the one season before this, but
I wonder if there are some echoes of the post 2012 winning
season, where the set-up got too cosy and we gradually
regressed. Too early after five games to say but given how
competitive the league seems at the moment someone has to be
mid-table and it might just be us for now.

I Know we don’t like to take the points, but if there was ever a
day for doing so, yesterday was it.
I’m 100% with @Carbonm here. It was clear that we weren’t likely
to score a try from a catch and drive situation and as the game
went on, we should have recognised that for goal.
It wasn’t a high particularly high scoring game until late on,
so 6 or 9 points would have put a decent dent in their lead and
might have changed the game a bit. Sticking to plan A when it
clearly isn’t working is just poor decision-making.
I also agree with @MerstQuin re. the defence. It was actually
pretty good. Apart from Scott who had an unexpectedly excellent
game, their backs were pretty anonymous. Did Watson do anything
other than scoring his one try and two high tackles early in the
game? Indeed, a lot of their attacking platform came from us
failing to protect our own ball in attack and giving up
turnovers or penalties for holding on. It wasn’t because they
were ripping us apart in d.
I’m still of the opinion that the stop/start nature of our
season so far with an early bye and a cancellation really hasn’t
helped. On the flip side, I guess that might turn out to be a
benefit later in the season.

Having slept on it, I do acknowledge that it wasn't a "good day
at the office". But, coming up against Tigers with a point to
prove (a Kevin Sinfield-drilled defence) and missing some key
forwards (Chis, Lewies, Collier, Lawday, Dombrandt), as Quinston
Churchill said earlier, was a force of circumstance somewhat.
During the 1st half, we had the majority of territory and a
dubious disallowed try for Luke Northmore.
I think that some posters on this thread are being overly
pessimistic. Remember, we only went down narrowly to Saracens
and should have won the game v Exeter, but for a referee call.
We have had the toughest opening possible (with the exception of
Falcons); we still have Sale away to come, but then Irish at
home. To write Quins off so early in the season as non-top 4
material is premature, given who we have to come back later +
Lynagh.
All - please remember where we were at in December 2020 and what
subsequently transpired. We have shown enough this season that
you write Quins off at your peril !

I've said many times our game management has been awful for
quite a while now. We are trying to live up to the entertainers
vibe, opting for attacking lineouts etc but we've lost sight of
how important it is to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Its not
helped by the fact in my view, that I don't think theres a
proper captain character at the club, in the way Robshaw,Vos etc
was for us.

Broadly I agree. Although I’d substitute ‘awful’ with a less
hyperbolic word … poor would be more appropriate.

That's fair enough. I think we are still stuck in the tail end
of the 20/21 season where as other teams have shown a more
mature/sensible approach to games. It could of come off against
Saracens for example, but then we ran out of steam a bit and
simply had no real plan B. Exeter was similar just the halves
reversed.
Ted Hill - get him in. Captain and a proper 6. (Delboy accent)
You know it makes sense.
