Not sure about Lewies' contract situation & not sure what type
of salary he'd be on - but I'd be willing to let him go, just
because of his injury record + maybe someone else if we could
       bring in Launchbury

I do kind of agree about Lewies however doesn’t Launchbury have
a high injury rate? I’d still take him but maybe like for like
on that front, I also think a Launchbury/Lewies engine room
       could be a good combination.

Will the fact that all these players of a high quality that are
now available actually reduce salaries . There are so many of
them now that when clubs look at next seasons contract
negotiations they can say to a player it’s supply and demand.
There is an oversupply of players and a smaller demand from
fewer clubs. If they want to stay in England that is.
I keep thinking, and it’s been mentioned before, that
Saracens cheating for so many years has had a much more
devastating effect on the Premiership than first thought. They
artificially increased the salary expectations of top players so
that clubs had to pay over the odds to get or keep top players.
This has obviously put many clubs in financial difficulties so
they can keep up. I wonder how many internationals they’ll sign
next season from the available pool.

Just swerving for a moment.....It strikes me that under the
current system Clubs are unduly affected by injured highly paid
players. Quins have certainly had their fair share and everyone
goes "oh well, hazards of the game..."
How about changing Contracts so that Players who are currently
paid £10,000 a week regardless of whether they play or not are
paid a sustenance level salary and then enormous playing fees
based on all the Stats available these days with GPS and Opta
       etc..?

Nail on head Mayor Wesr. The impact of Sarries cheating has
       exacerbated this problem significantly.

Agreed but I would put Robson first, he's not an x-factor player
but I worry about our depth at scrum-half if Danny goes down
       injured.

Just follow that train of thought through for a moment. Imagine
you're the player. You've got a choice between putting your body
on the line to make a try saving tackle... or conceding the
points but being able to play next week.
Or imagine you've picked up a long term injury. Would you accept
a massive drop in salary and struggle through the rehab in the
hope that you get to play again? Or would you accelerate your
plan for a post rugby career?
Players get paid the amount they do in part because we ask them
to risk their health for our entertainment. We continue to pay
injured players their salaries because that's the deal the clubs
make. If they reach the end of their contract, or it looks like
they won't be able to play again, the club generally helps them
move into the next phase of their career.
if we didn't do that, you'd see players being a lot less
committed to the sport, and a lot more likely to leave it after
       one bad injury.

I think you'd struggle to get someone to sign a contract like
that if not all clubs applied it and if they did they'd just
       bargain with the "sustenance level".

Barbeary would be the priority for me. Can't see it happening
       though.
