Who can stop Saracens ?

Saracens are 4 from 4 with maximum points. Sale are the same but
1 point behind. Daylight between 2nd-placed Sale and 3rd-8th is
already emerging after just 5 rounds. Saracens are still missing
a few (notably Itoje), so it seems they will only get stronger.
International calls may affect them but they still have
ridiculous quality in their back-ups.
I fear a complete Saracens "wipe-out" may be on the cards this
season.

Sadly, I tend to agree with you - though it is very hard to
maintain a long winning run indefinitely, and Sarries will
undoubtedly slip up at some point. Quins' title run in 2011-12
began with a 10 match unbeated league run (that was eventually
ended by Saracens), and sooner or later they will have an off
day.
Even so, I'd expect them to top the table at the end of the
season unless something goes badly wrong or someone works out
how to counter their game plan (easier said than done). In a
one-off knockout game, though, anything can happen.
I also think that the gap between them and us isn't quite as big
as it looks. A Quins side missing several key players could have
beaten a Sarries side much closer to full strength if a couple
of calls had gone our way, and if the forward pass at Exeter had
been correctly called we'd be a lot closer to them in the table
today.

Yes, never forget the ref only makes mistakes that penalize us.
Otherwise we'd be top.

Poorfour - I take your point. We were SO close in those two
games as you say. Things could have been a lot different. But
saying that Saracens have Bath next weekend, Sale have L.Irish.
These are virtually nailed on 5-pointers, whilst we entertain
Tigers. The gaps are only going to get bigger.

They were very impressive against us, with a game plan revolving
around McFarland. However, we were encouragingly close.
So long as we don’t have to go their place in the play off
semis, I can see us beating them in another glorious day at
Twickenham in the final.

I'm sure they'll lose a couple but their squad is by some
distance in the best in the league, so it feels like a real
long-shot that anyone will stop them finishing top. They're not
bad at knockout games either.

Over the course of the season, we all have to play the same
opposition in the end (except Worcester). For instance, Sale and
Saracens will play each other twice; they can't both take full
points from those games.
I'm also not so worried about Leicester. Losing Ford and Genge
seems to have hit them very hard.

Sorry, are you saying that all Quins need to do to get to the
final is to avoid a semi-final v Sarries at the StoneX? Largely,
the Sale v Quins games are won by whoever is the home team. I'd
also argue that Sarries at the Stoop would give you guys a tough
game and is far from a foregone conclusion.

While the scoreline in our home game vs Sarries was close, I
actually felt they were pretty comfortable winners as soon as
they got going. It took them a while to warm to their task but
then we did look quite clueless against them. Who knows if
having Danny, Marcus and Andre available would have made the
necessary difference.
I suspect that they will finish top, but I don't think they're
unstoppable. From a Quins point of view, we need to overcome
whatever mental obstacle we have when playing them. We chance
how we play when we play them and we need to back our own game

I am a Saracens fan, the sides are all a lot closer this year,
Harlequins took a 17-point lead and lost due to a last min
long-range penalty. V Gloucester we took the lead in the 81st
minute. We are on a lucky run at the moment, our squad is
similar to the rest of the league, with maybe a few more
developing players at the moment. If you had a full side in our
first game I think that would have been the difference.
