Re: Quins courting Argentinian tighthead prop from Worcester

Why would Ted Hill want to join Quins, though? With Evans,
Kenningham, Dombrandt, Lawday and Chis to get ahead of, there
are likely to be other clubs who need him more, even if right
now we have injuries.
If the club knew that Lawday or Chis were going to retire or
leave, that might be a different kettle of fish, but if not it’s
a hard sell.

I think we need another loose head rather than a tight head...
Another second row is always good to have.
But I suspect we don't have the money or cap space.
I think we'll need to replace Bota and Lewies when their
contracts are up. Stef is always injured and Bota is the last
convincing international LH I've ever seen...

Unfortunately Santiago Garcia-Useless re-signed earlier in the
year so we have him for at least this season and likely next.
Hopefully not the one after. Quite why we did that, I really
don't understand as he has never been even half decent.

Unfortunately Chis seems to be injured more often than not so he
won't be getting in anyone's way and with Dommers likely to be
on international duty, we're one injury, rest day or chicken
bone away from needing academy backup so yes, I think we could
do with him

Given existing options I don't think flanker is a priority. If
we're going to recruit another back rower it should be another
8, or at least a 6/8 hybrid. Dommers will inevitably be spending
more time with England and Chis's injury record speaks for
itself. Ted Hill is a fine player but doesn't fit that mould.
Our recruitment has been spot on over the last few years. The
club know what they need and I'm actually quite pleased we're
not rushing out and recruiting reactively.
No doubt the club are also keeping a very close eye on the Wasps
situation.
I'm expecting that this summer we'll recruit a top quality scrum
half and a lock to replace Lewies.

Hill was supposed to be playing at 8 this season for Worcester,
although I think 6 is his best position.
I’d very happily have him, but I have literally 0 interest in
Medrano. That’s no slight on him as a player, but I really don’t
think we need another tighthead and Argentine props have been
very hit and miss in the Premiership as we know very well.
Now Batley has gone to Bristol the Worcester player I’m most
interested in is Gareth Simpson.

Hill is better than Chis and doesn't have the fitness issues.
He's a better 6/8 than Kenningham, who is a fine 7. And
Dombrandt doesn't play 6 for us.

No idea how real our interest is, but it does make me worried
for how serious Will Collier’s injury is. I don’t recall us
bringing in injury cover previously unless someone was out for
the season?

Good point. If it’s injury cover for Collier that’s a different
matter.
