I don't wish to criticise much of what you say, but his bit is a
bit flaky - I don't think many of them (Americans) would be
thinking about it too much - but I can't really believe that
that, in itself, would put them off. I could be wrong - any
American fans out there?
I don't think he may have been the best ref to officiate this
game (not the most experienced to do it?), but that is a
different matter...

He did seem overly concerned with what might be heard on the
mic, and it was marketed as being the game for the American
audience...

Thanks to all posters for your insights of the game, I am in
foreign climes, and wasn't available to see
highlights..............until surprise, surprise, they had it on
in a bar in Byron Bay, so not just being shown in America.
Fantastic advert for the game, Quins defence significant
improvement on last year, and in a relatively short timescale.
Attitude, commitment, spirit, all brilliant. Discipline, already
been said. Beaten by a quality side, no shame in that. All
positive signs.

He jackaled the ball and the tackled player held on for dear
life for what seemed like several seconds, while LP just stood
there watching from a few meters away. Looked absolutely
textbook, and if Robshaw had done anything wrong then he surely
would have been penalised, but he wasn't.

Yeah we were screaming from our seats, and we weren't standing
over the blooming thing.

Decisions like that are so frustrating as supporters. I often
watch the game back and find out a fair few of the decisions
I've got overly irritated about at the ground are actually right
when you watch them back but that one was utterly mystifying
considering how close LP was to the incident.

Pearce probably felt the intricacies of that penalty decision
might have been too much for our American friends.
Incidentally, there were several American accents to be heard in
Block FD West Stand. They were coming and going from the boxes I
think?
Which reminds me, a sell out crowd is a double edged sword.
Makes for a great atmosphere but what a right pain all the
latecomers and comfort break/beer fetchers are!

Yeah there were defo some Yank guests -- one massive looking
dude who I assume had something to do with rugby or NFL.
