A BP win on the road isn’t to be sniffed at. It’s not the
performance I was hoping for, but ultimately it’s the result
that counts.

You mentioned how negative some poeple are on match day and
you've pretty much just said why! I thought that was hard
watching - there were way too many head-shaking errors/moments
to mention. Some positives of course, plus a bonus try win is
golden. Loads of improvements needed.

Real helter-skelter game.
Dombrandt made the difference in the last 10mins. Swung the
momentum our way with a steal off the kick chase and then a
quality finish for his try.
Sloppy first half from Quins. Radwan and Earl tries were both
sucker punches from turnovers gifted to them (although Radwan's
try still took some finishing).
Felt a bit like the semi final with too many one out runners.
Thought we looked more connected in the second half with Evans
on the pitch. He was sharper to the breakdown.
Wasn't impressed with the decision making at line-out time.
Credit Falcons, there driving maul game was effective, but we
seemed to get caught between two stalls of not really competing
in the air or getting ourselves set.
A win is a win, but we'll need to be significantly better next
week.

Thought we were by far the better team. Two tries came from
interesting interpretations of the laws and then a resulting
breakaway. Think we can iron those out. What was worrying was
maul defence. It was so improved last season, but so far this
year (and even in the preseason games) it has cost us. Still
looks like we are finding our feet with the new combos in the
centres. Anyanwu had a moment of brilliance but thought he
struggled to make it over the gain line throughout the game

Perhaps, but personally, I think it’s quite different making a
factual statement in the 65th minute than choosing to describe
us as ‘clueless’ after 10mins or using the word ‘embarrassing’.

Maul defence - a bit weaker at the moment without the underated
Mat Symons. He was excellent in that department.

to be honest we qere very rusty and the maul defence is a worry,
but apart from that if a few things had gone our way that was a
60-20 win.

The maul defence issue was very apparent against Scottish so
it’s disappointing it’s not been worked on more pre season.
Falcons deserve a lot of credit really as they played the game
in good spirit keeping it a flowing running rugby affair all
whilst severely depleted .
