At first reading I took this to be a genuinely empathetic letter
of support for Worcester's predicament. However, as Irish
presumably retain 100% of any extra ticket revenues it might
generate, I'm wondering if that was the real motivation ?

Translation:
We are looking to appear sincere showing support, but actually
would love to fill our mostly empty stadium under a false flag
of solidarity. This would generate a lot of ticket sales, and
also provide a boost to other things such as food/drink sales.

Now, if they said a certain % of all ticket sales will go to the
club/wage pot etc, thats different. The fact they haven't will
make you draw inferences on their true motives. If this was the
genuine angle, you'd want to certainly promote what you were
giving.

I don't see why Irish would / should give a % of their receipts
to Worcester. I doubt Irish are flush with cash, in fact I think
their owner said he'd give the club away for free to the right
investor. Why would any club agree to give part of their
receipts away to the opposition, when most clubs are in similar
positions in terms of their finances. Would you trust the
Worcester owners to dish out any monies they receive in a fair
way?
Having said that, I agree that it's slightly naughty to ask
others to come to the game to show solidarity, when only Irish
stand to profit. It is rather cynical. It would be a show of
solidarity in some ways, and probably great for Worcester
players to play in front of a big crowd in what will presumably
be a fairly emotionally charged game for them, while only
financially benefitting Irish.

I personally believe no club should really get assistance as it
simply rewards failure. Obviously its heartache for fans, but if
I owned a club and knew I could run it into the ground but have
someone chip in with wages, it simply sends out the message that
you can run a club in an improper manner and still have things
covered.
No one has an obligation to bung Wuss a few quid to help out,
but by drawing attention to their plight looking to get bums on
seats but not give anything (possibly - as its not been
confirmed), its at best a very poor oversight and at worst
calculated/deceitful way of making profit.
