He has a lot of unfulfilled talent. A few years back I believed
he would surpass Minty and the much-lauded Clifford. He had a
really good season then had a few long-running injuries. Sadly
he doesn't seem to stay in shape for a good run of games, but he
is a real presence - very physical and with good skills. He
seems quite abrasive too, which is no bad thing.
It would be great to have hime fit for a good spell as he can
make a big difference.

When he first started playing for the seniors, he was a hugely
impactful physical presence. I don't think he'd ever have
surpassed Minty or what Clifford could have been had he stayd
fit, as that requires characteristics he didn't have; he never
had the speed and handling of Clifford or the reading of the
game that Easter had. Dombrandt, I think, is as close as we'll
get to an improvement on those two.
Chis is a different kind of player but could have been similarly
impactful had he stayed fit, but I would be surprised if he has
it in him to string a run of full games together at this stage
of his career.

I hope you're wrong, but fear you're right. He's a very
different player to Clifford, but I think he shone at an early
age. Remember, he was world junior player of the year when
playing alongside Itoje. Maybe he peaked early. He did have some
cracking games, including a MOTM against Parisse IIRC.
I hope each season that he'll be back to full fitness, but maybe
it's his playing style that sees him pick up injuries.

Isn't the team usually up by now?
I know there is other fairly major news at the moment, but
wouldn't have thought that's why they'd delay an announcement
which we usually get at midday

It's only Thursday. Team news for games on Saturdays & Sundays
are announced on a Friday.
Of course, we know that things may very well be shaken up given
the news this evening. I guess tomorrow we'll hear what's
happening to sports events etc...

Oh, thought we were playing on Friday. Read somewhere that
sporting fixtures are now cancelled during period of mourning.
No idea if true. Anyway, seems a bit insensitive to moan about
lack of team's news so I'll shut up

Been a while since I posted. The last time a reigning monarch
died, which was before my time, Rugby & Hockey matches were
called off, but Football carried on. Was just reading about it.
Expecting us to be called off. The ECB have called off
tomorrow’s play at the Oval, & the BMW PGA Championship at
Wentworth is called off for tomorrow pending further update.

I think you were reading the same piece in the Grauniad that I
read. \on the radio news earlier they said the FA were meeting
later on today to decide what to do about the football. If they
cancel, there's no way the RFU wouldn't follow suit.
