The problem with helping once is they would have to do it all
the time if it happened to any other clubs.

There are apparently 250 people on the staff.
That is a lot of people not being paid.
And there are the casual staff on top of that.
One does have to ask what they were all doing - it is a large
wage bill.
Aside from the £6m paid to the 50 players, that is another 200
staff, let's say on £40k each - another £8m.
Bath apparently employ 150 - so what are the other 100 at
Worcester doing?
Are they generating income - obviously not?

Sometimes it’s the unscrupulous people running the business.
They can see what’s going on and divert funds into their own
pockets and to hell with everybody else. Allegedly. I sub
contracted to a top end building company building £20,000,000
homes who went bust. Luckily not owing me anything. When the
receiver came in and started sending reports of its findings to
contractors it turned out that the owner of the firm had been
building his own house on the sly and had paid over £120,000
into another of his companies which he had then withdrawn into
his own account. He was threatened with charges of fraud and had
to repay the stolen funds. I then did an internet search and
found a string of his companies that had gone under owing
millions. Meanwhile he had a property in Barbados and at least
two in private roads in the UK.
He had done very well for himself by bankrupting many
other companies and leaving hundreds of people without jobs. I’m
guessing that if you are a solicitor and know about company law
you can steal money without it being illegal but certainly
immoral.

I'm also in the construction industry and that is a familiar
story.....
Construction is still full of cowboys and con men. The only
difference these days is that the take successful one have fancy
logos and big corporate offices. Doesn't mean they aren't
cowboys or con men though....

According to the last published accounts for Bond Group Sixways
Ltd., there were 285 staff, but 126 of those were part-time or
casual, bar staff etc.
So the wage bill was only £12m in total.
As of June 2020 there were 64 identified as administrative staff
and 35 as coaches and 46 players and 14 academy players.
The accounts for last year and the confirmation statement are
overdue.

They didn’t ‘let’ LW go to the wall - they just didn’t prevent
it and I see no reason why they should have.

No - just one less club to make a loss each year.

I have talked to someone who was involved with London Welsh and
they said that they were spending way beyond their means and
even though they had questioned the signing of big name players
on ridiculous wages they were ignored at board meetings. The
attitude was that it wasn’t their money and it was a vanity
project. They were going to be big in the Premiership. People
were being asked to chip in their own money to pay wages it got
so desperate.
If they had been more realistic with the ambition they
had , they would probably still be a steady championship club
without the baggage they have now. They still got a far worse
punishment for being incompetent than for cheating though.
