calibre of repacement, and the strength in depth. The former may
need time to settle, but the latter is key. For example, if we
change a selection at wing, we're rarely weak; similarly, if
Sarries drop their entire first choice XXIII, the rest of their
underpaid internationals should see little drop in
       performance...

       Guilty as charged.
Growing up playing in the Pennines, the scrums were nice and
       warm. Wingers got frostbite.

That table is a helpful guide but it doesn’t tell the whole
story - we look to be making a big change at lock, but it
reflects the fact that Lamb and Lewies were injured a lot last
season as much as it reflects the importance of Symons and Tiz.
Likewise, Huw Jones accounts for the stats at 13 and 15 - but
was covering for Nacho Ramjet being away with England and Green
       being injured.
Based on the little we’ve seen so far, our lock stocks actually
look pretty good this season. Lamb was first choice when he was
fit, if Lewies is fit he starts - but Hammond is today where Tiz
was last year. Herbst and Matthews add helpful depth (and I
think Herbst could become the next in the tradition of Kohn and
       Symons if he’s consistent).

I wouldn't be surprised if Herbst makes a big enough impact to
be in contention as a starter. I just hope he stays fit.
The ramifications of a fit Lewies, Herbst, Matthews, Hammond
could be that Lewies appears in the back row more, allowing us
       to rotate/rest players.
Back row will be interesting. When fit/available we'll have
Evans, Kenningham, Dombrandt, Lawday, Chis, White and I may have
missed someone (ah, Wallace). Plus the gazelle like Jurevicius
who punches well above his weight, and it's a good stable. The
challenge will be about giving them enough game time, as much as
       keeping them match fit.

Just noticed that Pollard picked up a knee injury that will keep
him out for the rest of TRC at least. Tough for Tigers…
