After scoring only 63 points and conceding 1240 ( average loss
of 69-4) in 18 league defeats season I cant see them getting
much from ticket revenue.
Sadly, I would expect them to bow out of the Premier 15's at the
end of this season.
Who's on the waiting list to join I wonder to take their place?

The obvious answer would be Newcastle Falcons to take over DMP's
place in the Prem XVs but I've no idea whether they have the
cash/will. Beyond that, I'd guess Bath, Leicester and Irish will
at least be having chats about a women's team.

The only reason DMP are still in it is because the RFU wanted a
representative for the womens game in the North East. Which is
going well isn’t it. That team tries its best every game but
hasn’t the resources to get the better players. Getting triple
figure scores against you constantly isn’t good for anybody.

DMP are operating on a National 1 income - and there is the rub.
Unless Newcastle buy the franchise off them, there is no way of
funding it to the level it needs.
But as part of Newcastle, it would be dependent on the men's
team - and that has gone so well for Wasps.
Worcester does not have a women's team, thank god.
We have 13 premiership clubs financed by the RFU to the tune of
millions a year, and by TV money for more, yet still losing £5m
or more each
And the other clubs get nothing at all, DMP might get a team of
three each week for the first team matches, but that is all the
support it gets
National 1 sides used to get travel funding, but that was cut
before covid to feed the maw of the Premiership and its need to
keep up with the French.
The RFU has also gutted spending on development officers, so we
no longer have people running rugby clubs in state schools.
For now soccer still gets the classified results, all the way
down to national leagues, people therefore have heard of
hundreds of soccer clubs. People do not know of Richmond, or
Rosslyn Park, let along Blackheath - without whom there would
not be a RFU, but no down in Nat 2 South East.

Quins’ first league game is against University of Worcester
Warriors.

The second tier of womens rugby is Championship North and
Championship South. Then the N1 divisions. They are all “local
rugby club” teams. The two exceptions are that Championship
South has Bath and now London Irish who both have ambitions to
be part of the Premiership 15s next intake. Bath seem to be
making a token effort with their team but I get the impression
that Irish are a lot more serious.
It could work out that Worcester, DMP and Wasps have to
leave the Prem15s which would make it easier for the three
teams, Bath, Irish and Leicester to get in. Wasps Women are
leaving Twyford Ave and as the players are not fully
professional many are leaving because the travel to Coventry is
too much as they work or study locally.
I don’t know the funding structure in the Championship N
& S but I’ll see if I can find out. Lots of the teams travel by
coach to games so I’m guessing there is something.

That should read -

Both Blackheath FC and Blackheath Proprietary School (who were
the feeder team for Blackheath FC) were at the 1st meeting.
Perceval House from Blackheath was also represented.

The RFU has promised £20m to the women's game over the next 10
years, but I don't know when that starts.
