They need to raise a minimum of £50k to be able to compete.

This is a tricky situation for them. The RFU want representation
in the North East (Quite rightly) but it’s not as popular up
there as other areas of the country. It could be argued by some
other teams not attached to mens Premiership clubs that there is
more help from the RFU going in their direction unfairly. DMP is
a big club but Amateur so finances are tight and pretty much all
their games are down south which makes transport expensive.
Perhaps Newcastle Falcons could do something for the
Womens game up in that neck of the woods.

Presumably this is why the women's fixtures has been delayed.

The World Cup is why the season starts late.

I assume Newcastle will be given funds to take them over.
I am not sure how DMP can afford the Arena - it bankrupted the
       football club.
It is larger than the Stoop, and its only other tenant is a
National One side, attracting under 1,000 spectators.

The RFU has agreed to pump £200m over 10 years into women's
rugby, you'd have thought they could pay £50,000 out of petty
       cash.

They would have to give every team £50000 to keep it all equal
and some may be asking why they didn’t get any help before they
had to withdraw from the league. It’s hard but you
       can’t/shouldn’t treat teams differently.

Would you say the same for tax payers money to men's clubs?
Not provocation, just interested in views as it's been widely
reported a certain club is appealing for tax payers money via
       loans and grants.

Yes , I had heard about trouble in the Coventry area. If it was
done as a loan and repaid then not a problem. Money just given
from the public purse to help a private company , not on. The
financial affairs of the clubs should be kept within the
individual clubs and any loans or cash flow problems sorted out
without handouts from the tax payers.
Of course you are all now going to tell me how much the
Government coffers have handed out to other sports clubs.

Not at all, as I said I'm not trying to provoke you, just
interested in where people feel the line is in regards to tax
payers money Vs private enterprise i.e. RFU.
Personally, I'm against selective regional/local council grants
or loans for clubs who can't run themselves correctly much like
big business shouldn't be bailed out without having strict
repayment terms against future profit to guarantee a above
inflation linked return to the taxpayer.
There have been, and no doubt, will be more cases where private
companies are supported by the tax payer, of which the tax
payers never see a return on investment.
