There are good uses for blockchain technology - basically, it is
just a way of certifying a document.
E.g. - there was some talk about digitising car service records.
This would mean that people buying a used car would be able to
validate the car's history before buying it.
I know that they are also using it for custom checks of
documentation relating to what is on a lorry when crossing
borders.
Most of the bad press for blockchain come from bitcoin. Firstly,
coins/tokens are mined - this takes a lot of energy. Also, there
isn't a single validating authority. This also results in energy
wastage.
There are more issues with Bitcoin rather than blockchain. But,
it is not clear from the q+a how "green" the $quins tokens are.
It would have been nice to have made a statement regarding this.

I agree, there absolutely are good uses for blockchain, but
right now it seems as though its primary use is as an exercise
in separating fools from their money. In terms of energy usage,
the issue is with "proof of work" systems, as the entire point
of it is to do a large amount of computational work to verify
blocks. From the sounds of it, Socios uses proof of work for the
time being, so for those of us who care about the environment,
my recommendation would be to avoid using this system.

I'm not sure - but, I think they currently use
proof-of-authority.

Just when I thought I couldn't be more disappointed with the
club for this partnership they come out with that statement.
They repeatedly say in the statement that the Tokens shouldn't
be treated as an investment and are actually all about fan
engagement. If that were true, why on earth would Socios and
NFTs need to be involved? They don't bring anything to to the
table other than the NFT and investment aspect.
Looking at the numbers provided shows this "fan engagement"
angle to be rubbish too. 500 fan polls in 2022 launched from 170
partners - just under 3 polls per club. 5000 rewards in 2022 -
across 1.5 million users, with 17,000 "planned" rewards for
2022. So they need to step up their reward giveaways! Only 50%
of NFT holders vote in fan polls, not exactly great fan
engagement there.
And the final question that they are "moving to a 'proof of
stake' model" is gold standard in management speak to not say
that yes it is the energy wasting proof of workl at the moment.
Whoever wrote that answer should move into politics as their
talents are wasted as a shill for Socios.

One other point to mention.
There are not many platforms that allow you to buy NFTs with
actual money.
All the one's that I have seen tend to use crypto.
My personal viewpoint on crypto and NFTs. (This is not related
to $quins or Socios)
- avoid crypto currency if you can. The idea was set up as a
method to get round all the bad bits of traditional currency and
banking, but has just created something 10 x worse.
- NFTs are pointless. You can't hold them or see them or
anything like that.(E.g. try to swap an NFT for a pint of Fursty
at the Eel Pie and see where that gets you.)
