The 4th from last was quite interesting in that for most players
when tucked in it turned pretty much into a halved shirt because
the top quarters were so long.

The twitter link DOK posted shows what can be done with the
quarters.
On the new shirt, I quite like the green flash down the sides

Just my own view as a kit fanatic, but here we go:
Pros:
• Shorts; LOVE the green side panels with the fazed diamond into
them. Different with the key part of this being different but in
a good place/area of the kit to play around and be different
with; and I like it. Plus it’s adding green. Yes not in the
sleeves but it’s being green back. Next year sleeves please.
• Liking the big span of sizes in the replica/pro/womens
version. Very good for to have all these different fits and in
all these different sizes. A big important move they got right.
• Pro version sizing is actually normal sizing “XS, S, M, L, XL
and so on so forth” rather than what Adidas did with the random
“6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and so on and so fourth. (Adidas’s pro
shirts were sized in number order which no one understood too
well and didn’t really work too well either).
• Really like the silicon grip on the pro shirt. Always like
that as an amateur rugby player from a performance perspective.
I believe the last time we did that was on the Kooga 2006/2007
shirts. Good to see it back again even if it proves a once every
now and then type thing.
• Like that the Pro shirt has a stitched in collar, whereas the
replica one has an unstitched/traditional collar. Adidas did the
same thing with the 150th shirt and it’s good to have it that
way round; it makes sense.
Ok now for the cons…
Cons:
• No traditional/equally spread/equally alternating Green/Black
sleeves. Adidas for some reason dropped this from most of their
shirts even though it’s part of our history/tradition. I was
hoping one positive from this Castore deal (I’m yet to be a fan
of any of their club team work and personally thing they are
better at typical gym wear) would have picked this up again; but
sadly have sidelined the green once again. I’m sorry but tiny
unequal green cuffs don’t cut it for me and many others who are
a fan of our traditional colours.
Sorry but I feel like brands we collab with and even Harlequins
at times forget that we have 4 quarters BUT 6 traditional
colours. Not 4 quarters and 4 traditional colours.
• No hopped socks; something I know others but especially I
personally LOVED when Kooga/O’Neill’s used these. Again dropped
by Adidas and had hoped Castore would reintroduce them… but
sadly not. However this isn’t exactly a biggie; more just that I
miss them very much.
• I like rugby shirts without collars and I also like rugby
shirts with collars. Adidas nailed the shape and size of it with
the 150th one.
(On that subject; If anyone has a Pro version of the 150th one
and is thinking of selling it; I’m a serious buyer 😁)
However this one looks like a Dracula/Harry Hill style which
belongs more in Saturday Night Fever than Saturday 2pm at The
Stoop. Just think out of all the collar shapes and sizes they
could have done and they’ve chosen an odd one here in my view.
Good however to see a collar back though after not having one
since 2016… just why an odd looking Harry Hill one.
• The mismatched colouring in the stitching between the seams
looks naff. I’m sure it’s still secure etc but it makes it look
like a cheap inside out Tshirt.
• I can see what they were trying to do with the quartered sock
cuff design but I don’t think it’s worked that well
unfortunately from the photos. However I think I’d like to see
them in hand to see if they look better as the photos
Quins/Castore have put out seem quite pixelated in that area for
some odd reason.
I know I sound like I’m moaning but as a big kit fanatic you can
get quite picky as I know how good kits can be currently and
equally how bad some can be. Plus I know what brands tend to get
lazy and what brands really put the effort in. Looks wise and
quality wise Nike, Umbro and Samurai seem to smash it out the
park and I had my reservations with Castore given talk in the
kit enthusiast community/fans of teams who have that supplier
not really being pleased with the end product. They could have
done a lot worse don’t get me wrong but they haven’t done too
great either. Again I’ve heard all sorts about kit not being
full stocked in stores, slight quality of printed sponsor/team
badges, sizing differences due to multiple worldwide factories
making the same shirt with slight differences, initial start of
season distribution being lacklustre etc.
We’ve seen what it looks like. Only time Will tell on quality
and other areas. I wish Castore well and I hope our experience
with them is a good one.
All this being said I am looking forward to seeing what they do
with the Away & Big Game kits. I think that is their opportunity
to really shine in the early years of our partnership together.
Personally I’ll save £110/£70 on this years home shirt but I do
hope I spend £110/£70 on a cool Away/Big Game shirt. Keeping my
fingers crossed Castore!

Apart from the awful collar on the playing version I think it
looks pretty good. I'll probably wait a couple of years and see
if the price drops to £25 before I buy one though.

I'd be surprised - evidently they have a great amount of input
into kit design... case in point they liked the BG Poo shirt a
lot!

I'd guess players are just a small reflection of what we've seen
expressed on this board. Some will hate it, some love it and a
lot of people be on a spectrum in between.
