From the club:
Harlequins
@Harlequins
Thank you for getting in touch.
When we launched the competition our intention was to reveal the
new home kit on 18th July. It was to go on sale too.
However, we are now working towards a new date of 25th July.
Many thanks for your patience and continued support.

My assumption, Castore fell a the first hurdle and didn't get
stock in place. Great start!

Yes, its still a bit dicey in places, however, the club and
Castore would have known the new kit wasn't going to be ready
well before yesterdays launch date.
Poor communication from the club not advising and only giving
information when chased.

I suspect that it was more likely that the e-store wasn't ready.
I think they would open the order book even if there wasn't
enough stock.
Setting up an e-store always takes more effort than you would
think it would.

Yeah, fair point. Leaving it to the last minute is never a good
look and almost always avoidable.

think its more about the web portal for the shop rather than the
shirts, they can do a reveal without having the inventory in
place, but if you cant physically order it then best delay it,
Quins web shop states under development so I suggest that is
more the reason for the delay.

If they built the site. Very possible that there e-commerce
product is being bolted onto the backend of a site
designed/built by another business.

I seem to remember that Lovell were late delivering their online
store too. Lovell were probably a lot bigger and had more
experience and still couldn't deliver on time.
Basically, 99% of IT projects run late or over budget or are
released on time with little testing and are full of bugs. This
is just the way it is. (I have been working in IT since 1984)
