Birthday boy Marler is still in the UK. Would be a bit of a
challenge to get him there before kick-off.

Beyond harsh that Marchant has been dropped entirely, and Danny
back to his old role of a bench spot is a shame as I thought he
played well, though I understand it.
Very excited to see childhood Quins fan Tommy Freeman make his
debut, he has everything you want in an international winger.
I thought Ludlam might have earned a start too

EJ has his favourites and no matter how poorly he could be
playing, like he did against the Barbarians, Underhill will
always be in with a shout of starting.
Ludlam did a good job, but I think for his work around the park
in turnovers I'd have actually started Willis. I'd have Willis
even at 8, but being as BV didn't do really too much wrong
against Australia EJ was never going to drop him anyway

I don't actually have an issue with Underhill starting - he's
been a positive in a disastrous season for Bath and his
physicality in the tackle is something we don't get from many of
our other back rows.
Sadly you can't fit in every player who's playing well and I do
think this 6, 7, 8 has a good balance. Likely that we'll see one
of Willis or Ludlam play 8 when they come on

True, I can see the logic for the change with Porter being in
great form and being bit more direct, but this constant
chopping and changing of players is doing my head in. Marchant
was finding his feet at international level so hope he will be
given another shot. I agree Freeman is a great player but how
many more options does Eddie need to look at? We need a bit of
consistency in selection, not handing out a few caps then
discarding players completely.

By Eddies own admission, DC was having to wait too long for the
ball at the ruck. Solution? Change the scrum half!!!!
Jackler injured, ergo slowing up delivery of our ball at the
ruck. Solution? Pick someone who tackles like a demon and
carries ok but doesn't jackle!!!
Midfield combo not working at 10/12 as both want to be the
decision maker but can't be. Solution? Drop the 13!!!
Wingers never really saw the ball all game, as per midfield
combo issue above. Solution? Change a winger!!!
Now, I'm no rugby head coach but common sense tells me that he
has finally lost it.

But you don't actually know what EJ's rationale is for those
changes so all a bit pointless.

Well common sense tells me that before evaluating an answer, you
should make sure you know what the question is. However even
from what you've said, changing the 13 is a reasonable way of
trying to get the ball to the wingers more, so I don't know why
you think that it's trying to address the 10/12 axis.
