       Personally I wouldn't go to SA, I don't think it's safe and it's
well documented that foreign sports visitors are targeted even
from landing at the airport by gangs and theives. But as I say
       personal choice.
Tough draw for Quins, but, I have faith.
Last 16 here we come then all bets are off!

I don’t agree with the South African teams being included in the
first place. Maybe I’m too “old” but they’re not in Europe and I
don’t give a toss about their time zone; they’re effing miles
away. Generally in places I wouldn’t choose to visit.

I've just google-maps'd it and in the car, it's 7days and
15mins. Might be able to shave off the 15mins if we get a wiggle
on through Angola. If anyone fancies splitting the Diesel :-)

You are far from the only person who didn't want them included!
In what's already going to be an incredibly tough season for
English clubs in particular, we have three sides having to
travel to SA in a tournament with a format that lacks any
       credibility. Wooo.

It's a farce. Its like the EUROvision having Australia and all
these other non European nations, it just cheapens the whole
       thing.
Lets face it, someone has earnt out of it, which is all that
matters for the powers that be at the highest levels.
Also, its a massive dent out of any teams budget to suddenly get
flights, hotels and all the extra expenses with travelling that
       far can bring.

Well I am sure Quins are not paying there has to be a budget for
this. Tony Rowe paying for Chiefs - you must be joking.

The thing I don't like about the European Cup is that there are
a mix of "clubs" and "provinces/regions". I think that these
competitions should be limited to clubs. If there is an
appetite for super-clubs/regions, then introduce a new franchise
competition (as per Super rugby) that runs alongside the regular
       club competitions.
Personally, I don't think that there is an appetite for this in
England. We tend to ignore the Country championship games and I
can't see that we would be too eager to join Sarries to become
the London Cockneys or something like that.
E.g. - I think that Quins v Stade Français is a fair game.
Quins vs Leinster or Blue Bulls is not.
Interestingly, I see that the Dragons are ditching the "region"
and have now reverted to "Dragons RFC".

       who would care who won?

Any chance you could swing past the Stoop on your way to Durban
       and give me a lift?

Yeah, for once I suspected I may not be alone 😁!
Sadly I share your enthusiasm for next year's Champion's Cup.
