I think that the issue with a player like CSW is that he just
isn't as good as our first choice locks - i.e. Symonds/Tiz

He wasn't even good enough to be a better bet than our backup
       locks either.

We barely saw him play, so it's hard to make that kind of
judgement. Shame that it didn't work out and it would be good to
       know why.
I can't imagine he was that expensive and the club may have
taken a chance on being able to get him fit enough but
ultimately couldn't. We did something similar with Olly Kohn
(who IIRC joined us while still rehabbing a bad knee injury) and
that worked out, but not all of them will.

Yes, he was unlikely to be expensive. But given he was actually
available for a decent chunk of the season and wasn't picked, I
don't think it's that hard to say he wasn't good enough.
I've barely seen Ross Chisholm this season either.

Unless he was never fit isn't that exactly why you'd make that
       judgement?

If I recall, he had an op last summer so perhaps he never got
back into a condition suitable for Premiership rugby. Nobody’s
fault, these things happen sometimes. He looked handy in the
couple of prem cup games he appeared in but looked to be
struggling after his short showings and blowing a lot in breaks
of play. Good luck to him in whatever he does next.

Not sure I agree, and not sure why you're comparing end of last
season with start of next season. Last Saturday, if everyone was
fit, are options were Symons, Lewies, Lamb, Tizard, Hammond,
Jurevicius and CSW. 7 players. Next season we will have 5 to
choose from, one of whom has never played in the prem so is
unproven, one of whom is very injury prone, one of whom only has
a handful of appearances and one of whom has mainly played 6 so
far as he looks a bit lightweight. At least it should mean
Lewies going back to the second row

Hammond and Jurevicius to be are too lightweight for second row.
Theres no doubting their athletic prowess though, but i think
next season our scrum could be very lightweight at certain
       points of the season.

That bloke Robson was too lightweight to be any good at lock
       wasn’t he?
