       CSW

Just seen he's leaving. Why did we bother signing him?! Had the
potential to be a very useful player for us but he played about
3 games in the prem cup all year. I know he had an injury to
       recover from but wow.
Not a criticism of CSW himself, but what a waste.

I imagine we saw his highlight reel with his previous stint
playing RU and thought he would be a good gamble as he's an
       athletic unit.
Realistically, he probably showed up and actually wasn't that
good and we realised that he hasn't got what it takes anymore. A
lot on here seemed to think he needed endless time to adapt
after being out for so long, but after half a season you should
be asking serious questions. Fair play to him though he's been
paid for a years work with just turning up for a bit of
training. Whoever recommended that signing needs to be bringing
       in cakes thats for sure.

Looks like it was a punt that didn’t pay off. For every
Dombrandt there’s a CSW. Good luck to him though and maybe he’ll
find another club and prove us wrong

Oh yes, there's nothing to criticise Quins for here - it was a
gamble and it didn't pay off.

That does leave us very light at lock. I know he barely played,
but we've lost 3 locks and gained 1

Not quite - Hammond and Jurevicius had had very little game time
before the second half of this season, and Lamb had gone from
bit-part player to a challenger to Symons until his injury.
So in terms of 1st team candidates, at the end of last season it
was Symons, Lewies, Young, Cavubati on occasion with Tizard more
or less established and it being unclear whether Lamb would
       really step up.
Next season we have Lewies, Lamb, Hammond, Jurevicius and
Herbst. Four of those have performed pretty well this season -
though I expect Hammond will at some point add bulk and be even
       more effective.

It's less about how well they've performed and more a pure
numbers game. I still think Jurevicius doesn't have the size to
play lock but we're still left with 4 options unless there's
another academy lock ready to step up that I don't know about.
It's a concern, especially given Lewies' injury record and
Herbst being unproven at this level and Hammond being so callow.

Is there anyone who knows what the academy looks like in this
       area?
I think we have Greene and Brown in the academy???
Are they at a point where they could step up?

Green and Browne are current u18s so not actually in the senior
academy yet. I expect both to get contracts however.

But surely, if CSW was given just a few more weeks...
