Ticket resale cash funding the club - total mickey take
   DIR By: Blucherquin

So one week I get a letter “from” Bob Hillier asking me to fund
the Quins Foundation - which I did, sounds amazing.
Now the absolute mickey taking sods announce that money from
ticket resale is going to NOT all go to the Foundation that they
claim is so important but will instead also be pumped into the
       academy and women’s team.
Total and utter joke. I hope they make no money at all. I’d urge
anyone to swap tickets on here rather then let the club siphon
       cash away from the Foundation.
       Club email:
“Previously, when you resold your membership seat for a match,
you received 50% of the sale price as eCash and the remaining
50% funded Harlequins Foundation programmes. You will continue
to receive 50% of the sale price when you sell your seat, but
the remaining 50% will now be distributed to helping develop
future generations by investing in our Academy and women’s
programme as well as funding the Harlequins Foundation.
Last season over £51k was donated to the Harlequins Foundation
by supporters using Ticket Resale, with the same amount returned
to supporters who were not able to attend a match. If you
haven’t used Ticket Resale before, you can find a step-by-step
guide here, so when you can’t make it to a match, you’ll be able
to ensure someone else can cheer the team on from your seat
while getting some money back and investing in the future of the
       game.”

I’ve said it many times before: the womens’ team is a big loss
maker. There is simply insufficient interest to make it
financially viable for the club. This is seemingly a way of
soaking up some of the inevitable losses that it creates.

It's their cash I suppose they can do what they want with it!

To be fair I would rather the funds go to ladies/academy rugby
related activities as opposed to funding the Club playing ‘Good
       Corporate Citizen’ with a foundation

Asking every member for £250 to support the foundation then
cutting the amount they give to the foundation.

They're cutting the amount that comes from only one of the
sources are they not? Surely the lots of £250 still go to the
       foundation?

The point is that the club went out of their way to ask loyal
supporters to fork out - a recommended minimum of £250 - to the
foundation. And then, with a matter of weeks, have announced
that the club contributions to the same foundation have been
       reduced.
I presume that the club knew that asking fans to fork out money
for the ladies team or academy would not be as appealing.
It seems very underhand to me

I'm with Blucherquin, it's a bit of a piss take.

I agree with safri-quin. I'm happy for the money to go to the
       academy and ladies team.
