No you're right, I just find all this DNA, how exciting are we,
we'll score one more than you stuff a bit jingoistic,
happy-clappy in general.
And I think when people start suggesting, as I saw it, that
Quins are somehow responsible for positivity in sport (Ok I was
probably being oversensitive :) ) I felt the need to comment.
I've been a member for about 30 years - I'd say if there's
anything in our DNA it's called 7th/8th place and a run in the
Shield.

I don't disagree with that! But it's fair to say the last 18
months has been largely defined by Quins making ridiculous
scorelines and unthinkable comebacks almost routine. Flattering
to deceive was the Quins way, but it does seem to have been
replaced with real end product.
Anyway - can certainly understand the need to roll your eyes at
the more overeager celebrations of Quins, but this one was
really tame! :-)

For sure! Not been a member for as long as that, and in fact am
not at the moment, but we actually do seem to be producing the
goods for the last season and a half! One swallow doesn't make a
summer and all that, but 2 swallows? (with a bit of creeper held
under their dorsal feathers)?

Re. the Marcus comment, I'm sure he will go on to be regarded as
a "great" but he's not Phil Bennett yet. I felt the comparison
was a little insulting. I doubt JB would have been particularly
impressed
Pretty sure the second line of your post uses a word not a
million miles from insulted? And it can only be insulting if
someone is insulted by it and again, it's not for you to judge
whether Marcus or Johnny would find it insulting. Would you like
to move onto 'Insults' next? Quick spoiler, my answer would be
the same....
As for the fool comment, I'll let the Admin send you a yellow
card for that and won't rise to it. Takes one to know one and
all that.

What on earth are you going on about? I was explaining the
difference between something being insulting as opposed to being
insulted by something. I didn't call you a fool; both sentences
were part of the explanation.

Oh, it's definitely more fun! I'm yet to be convinced it's a
coherent strategy but perhaps that's the point. :)
