Another very good point, Jammy. Our so called 'Red Zone'
efficiency is poor in the last couple of months, we need to work
that out.

Lol. Yeah fair point
Also agree our red zone efficiency is not as it should be,
however we do score a lot of points my main concern is we
concede so many. Which I guess is linked to our mindset and
something I suppose I ought to accept however I do wish we’d
pride our selves also on not giving losing or try bps away.
Maybe rather than just score more it should be two clear scores
to focus on both attack and defence.

For me in the last few months of the season we just weren’t a
particularly smart team. Any team knew if they strangled it and
turned it into an arm wrestle we would falter, and that’s
exactly what would happen.
Our line out has been poor, and our work at the breakdown is
also fairly disappointing so these are areas that need a lot of
work.

I defence has improved this season but accuracy hasn’t. Maybe
we’ve been guilty of trying to force it too much, especially
near the opposition’s try line!
I’m confident we’ll be top 4 again next year. The squad is very
solid and I think we have good cover for the leavers.

I know we're not supposed to feed the trolls but at the end of a
long season I have to congratulate MaidstoneQuin for
his/her/they/them continued attempts to get a rise. Have a good
summer under the bridge...

Possibly for the first time, I actually agree with a fair bit of
this - I agree with 90% of the first paragraph and I think
there’s also a fair bit of room for improvement at the lineout.
I see less of an issue at the breakdown, but some of that
depends on personnel. Kenningham made a big difference here both
in attack (quick to clear out etc.) and in defence (slowing the
ruck, stealing the ball).
As much as international call-ups will hurt us, we’re far from
the only side in that situation and I think the continuity we’ll
get from a mostly settled squad will be massively helpful. The
sides that change lots won’t have that familiarity/solidarity.
We’ll miss Symons and Tizard for sure, but I’m hoping Herbst and
a fit again Lamb/fitter Lewies will be able to step in to the
breach. On the subject of fitness, having WEv and (hopefully)
Kenningham back and getting more game time out of the likes of
Lewies, Chisholm and CSW could be really important.

I'm not sure how the two things tie together, to be honest.
"We're not a smart team" - okay, that's an opinion and I'm sure
it's a complicated thing to assess especially in comparison to
other teams, but let's go with it.

- what's that got to do with being smart? Being dragged into an
arm wrestle isn't about smarts, it's about whether the
opposition can implement and impose that game plan on us. Being
able to tie us down, being able to drag us into a contest at the
breakdown, being able to deny us the space - that's not really
anything to do with Quins not being smart and more to do with
the skills and tactics of the opposition.
Certainly I didn't watch the first half of the Sarries game and
go "gosh, I'm so annoyed we took them on the forwards like that"
- it was a successful tactic and things started to go wrong
elsewhere.
There's never been a team that was capable of having a
free-flowing gameplan without serious work from the forwards,
and never one that was able to have that gameplan every time
against the highest quality teams.
