       It's not exactly been traumatic.

As with pretty much any of our games against top sides now it's
       a tough one to call.
We could go there and give away a load of daft penalties, get
frustrated, try to play out from daft places when it isn't on,
annoy the ref and end up getting beaten. We could also be
stronger than them at scrum time, play some accurate incisive
stuff and score some tries that'll force them to chase the game,
Faz will start getting very stroppy, and they don't have the
       bench they used to.
They're a very good side without doubt and they're favourites
but I wouldn't be surprised if we turned them over, much as I
wouldn't be surprised if we fell just short.

Faz can get very stroppy but his record does suggest he delivers
in big games for Saracens. Traditionally we have succeeded
against them with the ultra-physical, get-under-their-skin
approach that really knocks them off their game, but overall
       we've struggled.
I never look forward to games against them.

Possibly, but when was the last time we played each other with a
       full strength side?
Typically our games in recent years have come during
international periods when both sides have been missing key
       players.
I’d say the results you’re referring to tell me that their 2nd
string is better than ours. I don’t know if we have the evidence
to make the same conclusion for both sides being at full
       strength.
I also don’t recall playing them in a knock out game. Maybe this
is exactly the scenario we need?

We played them in a semi-final at what was then Allianz Park in
2014 IIRC. Our side has changed dramatically since then, theirs
probably less so. We were holding onto a lead at half time and
got tonked in the second half.
We did win the singing though: one of them picked up a YC and we
delivered a rousing chorus of "Sit down for the Saracens."

Sorry to get all nausy about this (and I obviously don’t know
what you think of as “recent years”) but I looked back to the
       17/18 season.
This season would seem to be the only time you guys have played
       Sarries in the international break.
Last season, there obviously was no fixture and in 2019/20 the
StoneX fixture was held in August due to Covid but was supposed
to be at the Spurs Stadium after the six nations.
That would have been in line with the two seasons prior to that.
In 2017/18 and 18/19, the Sarries fixture was at the Olympic
Stadium the week after the six nations. 🤓

To be fair, I just looked back at those games on ESPN and I’m
talking crap. The teams were pretty strong. Not how I remembered
it, but fair play - I was incorrect.

       I’m going with:
       Saracens 17 - 30 Harlequins
(And 8 plastic pitch burns) •_•

You're right and I think there's some shifted memories with
time. It was the week after the 6N and Sarries "Big Game" for
two years on the trot, and scheduled that way for 19/20.
Typically Sarries targeted it as a game because it was their
"Big Game" fixture so put out all the stars, while Quins (iirc)
used it as the game to give their England players the required
rest week (probably because anything beyond a loss would have
been an upset at the time).
