       O/T Gustard moving

According to TRP this morning PG is leaving Benetton Treviso to
go to Stade Francais. Julian Salvi is taking over at Treviso.
Does not say in what capacity he is moving to Paris.

       Presumably defence coach.
It's a step up for him but given all his big talk about Benetton
I don't think they were expecting such a short stint.

Obviously they didn’t have “a group where there was a clear
vision, a deep level of trust and a dynamic environment driven
       towards high goals”.

Or perhaps it’s just a better job that pays more? Gustard is a
middle aged guy with a family to feed and in the early stages of
a coaching career. The amount of ill will directed at him even
18 months after he left astonishes me.
He wasn’t the right man for Quins, and he made some big mistakes
in his time here. But he also put together a squad and a
coaching team that - largely unchanged from his time here - has
delivered a Premiership title and a second trip to the
       semi-final.
He didn’t get the club relegated, or even take us to the brink
of relegation. Or cheat and then cover it up. Stade clearly see
him as able to add value to their coaching team, and good luck
to him and them in making it happen.

I think it’s just because he’s very clearly a bit of a knob,
nothing worse, but you’d avoid him at office parties.

But you don't know him personally to make that judgement.
Personally I think it's much more likely that he just wasn't the
right fit in the Quins environment.

No sure, I don’t know lots of people personally but it’s ok to
have an opinion about them isn’t it? It could be totally wrong
and he could be a great bloke.
It’s not a massively serious opinion that needs to sway public
debate - but the same way you might see someone in the pub and
think “what a fool”, that’s how he comes across to me.
I’m sure he might think the same of me. But every interview I’ve
ever seen and all the rubbish he talks now about quins make me
think he’s a bit of a self regarding bloke who probably bangs on
about his PBs in the gym and loves talking about his Audi.

What does any of that have to do with the idea that Benetton
might be a little miffed that he's left them so quickly?

They might be a little miffed, but it’s not an uncommon thing
for coaches to have a clause that lets them leave for a bigger
       opportunity.
To take an example that happens to be even closer to home, Tabs
was at the Chiefs for less than a season before he came to
Quins. We’re they miffed that he left, or was it just business
       as usual?

What Gustard did to Renaldo Bothma was horrendous, then how he
treated Mike Brown which led to a mutiny
