As much as Andre would be great for England, its time to look at
those who are English who play there or who is the next cab off
the rank. If that is a young player like Anyanwu then so be it
but pick them and let them thrive.
Simmonds at 12 is a joke call and achieves nothing. I had no
problem with Burgess at 13 as he was actually decent at
defending and making breaks in League. Simmonds is a Union
forward and will be left for dead by a goose step or two.
I know the Aussies are poor but that just wreaks of desperation.

I wouldn’t advocate playing Simmonds at 12 now, but it’s a shame
it wasn’t tried a long time ago. He does spend a lot of time in
midfield though. Certainly a lot more than most No. 8s.
His role at Exeter is intended to play to his strengths and
could only really be replicated by playing two big lumps on the
flanks which England (rightly) won’t do. Unfortunately for him,
that means he’s not really had the opportunity to shine at test
level, despite having some great attributes.
I’m curious to see how Hyde develops for us. He’s quite lean ATM
but his a big lad for a centre and I think he looks more like a
12 than a 13. For all I know, we may be doing this already, but
I’d be getting him to soak up everything he can from Andre as he
has the physical potential to perform that role. Same goes for
Lennox although I think he’s better suited to 13.

If Eddie wants a bit of muscle at 12 then there are options in
Atkinson and Devoto. Dan Kelly was also looking very
accomplished prior to getting injured.
We won't know if they're good enough at international level
unless Eddie actually gives them a go.

I think we'll find out next season. With Jones and Lasike off
we've only three senior centres left with Marchant, Esterhuizen
and Northmore. Marchant is regularly in the England squad and
Northmore is on the fringes. And by all reports it sounds like
SA are going to call up Esterhuizen in the autumn.
So unless there is a signing in the pipeline I'm expecting we're
going to see Lennox and Hyde make the step up.
Murley could play 13 and Allan at 12, although Allan at 12 would
mean a complete change of game plan, so seems unlikely.

He seemed to make it clear in his interview that he and others
had had a good look at his ancestry and other routes. As they
are not open to him of course he is going to say what he can to
get a place in the SA starting line-up.

It seems likely that that’s what the coaches are planning,
though it may take Hyde a couple of seasons to find the right
weight for himself. Dino Lamb was fairly unimpressive until he
added some bulk this season

Lennox hasn't looked out of place when he's featured, and he's
only going to get better. He's certainly a powerful unit. On a
slightly tangiential point, I hope we'll see more of Cleaves
next season - game time might be limited of the current stock of
wingers stay fit and in form, but perhaps it will be a good
reason to give Lynagh a chance at 15.
