The prime function of this squad as well as playing v Baa Baas
is to entertain punters to a barbecue pitch side on June 07 for
which you pay £239per person. It says no players involved in
Prem final will be there. By then they will be down to semis so
that knocks out 4 teams! So don’t all rush I am sure you can
still get a ticket. …

I don’t think it’s a case of being dropped he is just looking at
other players who he knows little about and it is now or never.
Oz tour squad will be different and the squad for the autumn
different again as more mature players may need summer off. I
am not sure Joe Marler will even want to go Oz. Ben Youngs may
not go depends on his sister in laws health.

I see it the same way.
Eddie wants to build an attack around Smith. The 6N squad were
disappointingly off his wavelength, so I think this squad is
about seeing who in the wider talent pool can do that. But Eddie
knows that Marchant is very possibly the player who is most
attuned to what Smith is doing at any point in time, so I'd be
very disappointed if he's not part of the longer term plans.

You could be right on reflection and I'd hope Eddie has had a
chat with Joe to let him know that. He didn't look like a man
with a point to prove on Saturday but certainly played like one.

Doesn't he play like that all the time these days? He had a
quiet few months when he first came back from NZ, but since the
revival began last season he's been on fire most weeks.

Smith did an interview with Will Greenwood for the Telegraph,
and interestingly Smith seemed to think he had the strongest
connection with Slade, whereas he thought his communication with
Marchant needed improvement. However, you'd assume they'll work
on that while at Quins and it'll be a non-issue by the time the
Australia tour comes around

Yes he's been brilliant but what I meant was he was MOM and was
probably his best performance this season both how he attacked
and defended.
