I suspect that's the aim - and the prospect of a home RWC will
probably lead to investment from USA Rugby to improve their team
ahead of it. If I were World Rugby, though, I'd have given them
the Women's RWC before the Men's and not after. The Title IX
ruling (that women's sport needs equal investment from federally
funded sports programmes) has led to women's sports getting
established much faster than men's in the US. The women's soccer
team is comfortably the best in the world whereas the men's...
isn't, for instance. I suspect that they could get more interest
in rugby by having a successful run in the Women's RWC and from
that get momentum for the men's version.

The women's soccer team may be relatively much better but it's
hard to say they get more interest unless you are targeting
participation, in which case I've no idea.
The attendance figures are far higher for the men's game.

I had to travel to the US regularly with a previous job, usually
to the Boston area & Milwaukee. I was asked once by a UK
colleague to describe Milwaukee. My reply was "It's like
Swindon, but without the charm"

They did add 'upon-thames' to try and posh it up, but it will
always be the home of Ali G to me.

I lived in Staines for many years.....and my ex was from
Swindon. They're both grim, Swindon is just bigger.
