I don't recall anyone suggesting on here that a ref has
deliberately stitched us up that often but I've certainly
complained about it on the odd occasion that I've noticed it.
And it absolutely hasn't happened thousands of times.
We're not Leicester. Yet.

But he was keeping his mouth shut as he walked off the field.
Carley calling him back seems to raise the question of whether
he wanted DC to say something? A bit a la Bill Grundy and the
Sex Pistols, if you're of a certain age.

Should have kept his mouth shut before that; getting frustrated
by Carley's mistakes is foreseeable - we do it too often. Learn,
don't react and stay on the field.

I have complained about inconsistency in refereeing of
professional matches for nearly twenty years. They do impact on
a game - just as bad decisions do. Will it change? I doubt it.
Could it change - yes but only if referees and touch
judges/assistant referees work together. I know - as some do -
but they are a minority.
Do I think referees are corrupt? ABSOLUTELY NOT. However, there
is a big difference between that and biaise (sp). Referees do
have a tendancy towards biaise in that they start to see a
patern of infringement and dont press the reset button. Carley
is an irritating referee. We lost and can't rewind the clock -
so let's move on.

Should have' but didn't. Yellow card - no complaints. Called
back whilst leaving the pitch to be asked if he'd prefer a red?
Beggars belief.

It was a warning, surely: if you carry on mouthing off and
ignoring my instructions, I'll send you off; in the end, DC does
the right thing and hears him out, avoiding a red card and not
missing the odd game or two, which we really don't need...
Don't give him a reason to get into a muddle.

Danny had stopped saying anything ages before then and was
already walking off the pitch having been shown the yellow card.
He does what the ref asks, who then threatens him with a red if
he... doesn't do what he's told? I guess? The whole point is
that Carley wasn't warning him to stop something he'd already
stopped doing; Carley called him back to threaten him with a
red. That was it. Nothing more was said.

Carley calls Danny to speak to him immediately after the offence
occurs and then repeatedly but Danny ignores him and walks off.
That's why it takes so long and seems so pointless when Danny
eventually realises and goes back.
The thing is once a ref has asked to speak to someone they're
not just going to back down if they get ignored. Sure by the
time Danny returned it seemed daft but that was Danny's fault
and he was probably lucky not to get a red.

In the middle of that, Carley shows the yellow card to Danny,
which I'm pretty sure he can only do if the player is looking at
him.
I agree no ref is going to back down. My disagreement comes with
what he actually says. He doesn't lecture Danny or explain the
law to him or explain himself in any way - he just throws out
that a threat that doesn't make any sense in the context of
Danny doing what Carley asked. If Care says anything at that
point it's a red, so all he can do is continue keeping quiet and
walk off again - what exactly was the point of it all?

came out with that line that just made him look petty.

Fair enough. I didn't see the game and I've only just watched
the incident on the GP site. Unfortunately pretty much
everything is out of shot so I can only go by hearing Carley
blowing the whistle and immediately then repeatedly calling "No.
9" etc. It doesn't show him showing Danny the card. Presumably
the BT footage had different angles.
