Do you know what yareet, I don’t think the penalty was missed, I
think they had rehearsed that move on the training ground and it
worked perfectly. Why else would March been in that exact
position.
As for best or favourite try it’s hard to pick one as we
have scored so many spectacular ones. Marcus has however scored
or been involved in more than his fair share and Saturdays was
among the best from DC keeping it in the slicing through the
defensive line to send Murley away and the perfect timing to
offload to the supporting March. Beautiful.

Mine would be 2002/2003 I think at home against Wasps. Matt
Moore scored in the NE corner. Quins were defending a 5 yard
scrum, some how the ball come out our side Quins 9 (can't
remember the name) runs up the 5 meter channel, passes to Matt
who passes back and then receives the ball again and dots down
in the corner. Scored from 2 meters from our line.
Best part was sitting on the train on the way home looking at
this guy sitting across from me while talking with my mate about
the try. Only to work out after 10 minutes it is Matt Moore
that I am looking at who has a big smile on his face! In my
defence I had had a few after the game

Because we’re all coached that somebody should follow the kick
in case it bounces back off the post?

Yeah, everyone chases. There's been a few tries like that over
the years, but usually the chase is just to make sure you put
pressure on people if it comes off the woodwork or falls short.
Think Ross Chisholm v Glaws is my favourite individual try but
there's been so many good team tries.

My personal favourite has to be Simon Keogh's in the last minute
of the Parker Pen at Reading against Montferrand (as they were
then).

I agree. It was so smoothly executed that I have pondered
whether it might have been deliberate, but it's such a low
probability play that I find it hard to believe they'd actually
go for it. I think it's more likely that Marchant saw early that
it was sliding wide but on a trajectory that had more in common
with a crossfield kick than a pen, and his rugby instincts
snapped into action.

Lots of mine have already been mentioned but a few others I can
remember. In a forgettable season, we managed to beat Sarries at
home in the league. Walker scored a cracking try where he ran
all the way from way back on the left wing to dot down a kick
through from Care who had been taken out post kicking through
from a tap penalty. That try and win brightened up an otherwise
grim season.

Oh - and I should have mentioned the obscene try that Hammond
and Jurevicius scored against London Irish in the Prem Cup. How
often do you see a lock kick ahead down the wing for another
lock to pick up and score? It's so outrageous that it ought to
be illegal.

My favourite remains NEV's first try at the Stoop vs Wasps in
2009.
He was returning from injury and playing fullback. NEV moved up
to take the ball as it went through the centres. He had
Amesbury (I think) outside him and I figured - "this is an easy
run in if he passes"
NEV hit the burners and passed everybody on the outside. That's
the way to make your home debut ;D
Given all the other strengths of his game, it's easy to forget
exactly how fast he was.
