London Irish and Quins are in very different situations.
Irish have a stadium they need to fill, and IIRC they have some
backing from the IRFU.
Quins are filling their stadium and need to find ways of
increasing revenue without the ability to add more seats except
with the Big Summer Kick Off.
The 25% salary cuts and redundancies will have reduced the
losses but as Laurie's letter says they have over the last
couple of years lost ticket, food and drink, hospitality, merch,
RFU and PRL revenue - basically every single source of revenue
has taken a major hit. For an entity that wasn't making an
operating profit before COVID, that loss will have been much
bigger.
The ongoing support of the owners is reliant on having a plan to
get to profitability over time. Quins won't be doing this
lightly, but it will be finely balanced in terms of increasing
the revenue per seat vs losing STHs. I imagine they expect to
lose some - or see some move to lower categories - but will more
than recoup that in individual game sales.

It's in the FAQ...
Q: Who is eligible for Concession Season Tickets?
A: Age based concessions must be validated by formal
identification and requirements are:
• Junior Season Ticket Members: must be 17 or younger as of 1
July 2022
• 65+: must be 65 or older on 1 July 2022
• 18 – 22: must be between 18 and 21 years old as of 1 July 2022
• Full-time Students: must be able to show a letter of enrolment
proving their
student status
• Essential Key Workers: must meet the criteria set out by the
Club in our 2022/23
T&Cs. The Club reserves the right to use its discretion.
• Any child aged 3 or 4 years old on 1 July 2022 qualifies for a
discounted Season
Ticket Membership of £25 and will need to apply for a Junior
Season Ticket
Membership card to be assigned a seat.
• Any children 2 years old and under are classified as ‘babes in
arms’ and can enter
the ground for free but will share the seat with the paying
adult.

If my calculation is correct, club membership for my son & me,
ie a family 1 +1 membership, has gone up by 16% since I last
paid, for 2020/21.
A pretty meaty rise and it's notable that Laurie mentioned in
his email that there is another one to come next season. If
it's the same size next time and, with inflation running at 7%
that's not an unreasonable assumption, it would see membership
going up by 1/3rd over those two years.
That's a very large rise, but if you look at the context, ie
covid, rampant inflation, no rise for 2 or 3 years previously,
it doesn't look quite as big. The club can take this strategy
because they are selling out almost every home game.
Ironically, our success on the pitch has enabled this approach.
Personally, I'm not renewing, but that's for non-Quins reasons.
If I was able to, I'd probably swear under my breath and then
renew.

I go to all the games. It's a fairly big price increase if you
factor in the 2 lost games.
Cost for a club season ticket:
2021/22 = £475 (16 games @ £29.69 each)
2022/23 = £550 (14 games @ £39.29 each)

Going to need to have a good think about whether to renew this
time, touchline is an £80 (21% I think) increase on this year's
price. Not sure if it is still value for money when I can only
really attend the men's first team matches.

I am pretty sure that the Prem Cup is being replaced with a new
cup competition that will include the Championship clubs. Could
provide some interesting games.
Although, as a Richmond member, I may have some divided
loyalties :-)

For me, it is a no brainer.
I will just suck up the £80 increase.
I tend to come to every Prem, Prem Cup, and Championship game
and also, A-league, pre-seasons etc, if available and all of the
women's games.
I lose more than £80 a year in not collecting my £1 back for cup
return.
- so, I may just start collecting the £1 back sometimes to
offset the rise.

I suppose next years rise will depend on what happens next
season, if crowds drop to say 12,000 then another rise would be
bonkers as crowds could then drop to 10,000 . However, if sell
outs continue he can push it further until the tipping point is
reached.

I'm pleased that the the Prem Cup is being replaced. I'd like to
see the A League return too. These offer important development
games for the next generation.

That's a fair old increase in most cases, luckily for me, we
have been classified as restricted view being down the the front
of the stand so not much of an increase from a personal
perspective.
