PROMISING BACK-ROW ARCHIE WHITE BECOMES 21ST PLAYER TO SIGN NEW
DEAL WITH QUINS
Harlequins is today delighted to announce that back-row Archie
White has re-signed with the Club.
Twenty-four-year-old White is another key player to have come
through the Harlequins Academy, making his senior debut during
the 2015/16 season in Quins’ European Challenge Cup campaign.
The former England U-20 international has amassed 55 appearances
in the Famous Quarters which includes fourteen appearances
during the current 2021/22 season, featuring in the eight shirt
six times during a busy Six Nations period.
After putting pen to paper, White said: “It’s an amazing feeling
to re-sign with Quins once again. This team is looking to build
something incredible, and I can’t wait to try and play a big
part in that.

“The squad have both the Heineken Champions Cup and the back end
of the Gallagher Premiership coming up in the next few weeks so
the whole Club is really excited.
“Harlequins is the Club that I have been a part of from my
school years so I’m over the moon to extend my stay.”
Head Coach Tabai Matson added: “We’re thrilled to have Archie
re-sign with Harlequins. Over the last few months, he has really
impressed the whole coaching group and has become a crucial part
of our forward pack.
“Archie made his senior debut aged 18 and has now been part of
the first team squad for seven seasons. He’s worked extremely
hard and it’s a testament to our amazing Academy programme here
at Quins.
“This season we have seen him grow as a player and a leader and
has even captained our Premiership Cup side.
“We can’t wait to watch him continue his development here at
Quins and we’re all excited for his future in the famous
Quarters.”

Good squad option. He did reasonably well when called upon this
season and in my view is ahead of Taulani (sp) who so far has
been forgettable.

Isn't "promising" a bit damning with faint praise, when he's
24-years old already?

Turning 25 in August as well.

Different players mature at different points. Olly Kohn was 25
when he joined us, as was Jack Walker. Mike Ross and Nick Easter
were 26.
White is unlikely to be quite as influential as they were -
especially not with Dombrandt ahead of him - but he's likely to
get more first team game time given the heavy reliance we're
currently placing on Lawday and as Baby Chis and Wallace draw
closer to the end of their careers. The management clearly rate
him enough to hang onto him.

Can't have a squad of full internationals. He's a squad player
and decent at that level. Clearly the team means something to
him so he is probably more invested in it than other players who
haven't been with us as long.

James Chisholm is only 26. Let's hope he can put his injury
problems behind him next season. He should have a fair few
season left in the tank

I would hope so, but he's got a lot of miles on the clock (and
hours on the physio table) for his age.

Chisholm feels another Clifford in the making. He’s injured more
than available, with this season big a big step up on that,
which dosent bode well for future seasons. That said he did sign
an extension so I’d like to think if he was one tackle away from
being medically retired we wouldn’t of taken it on
