       Not formally warned, as you say, but the next level down.
       I don't remember how ever dropping any game-changing clangers -
       but I haven't seen all the games he reffed - I have always
       thought of him as one of then top refs.

       Only if he was censured for not trying to referee properly and
       concentrating more on funny one-liners so all the pundits could

       On the face of it you're absolutely correct.
       It was a poor response to a statement that I perceived to be
       intended not simply as an opinion but incontrovertible and yet
       at the same time it was highly subjective and contestable.
       Maybe I was taking it more literally that the OP intended.
       Anyway, all done now, I think. Apart from Deadly. :)
