Like I said, it's fine not to agree with it.

Maybe BB's opinion was that you should be on a World Rugby panel
to air such an opinion :)

Perhaps it was! Alas, I am not.

So do you think that the referee assessment panel - whatever its
formal name is - turned a blind eye to his search for B-list
celebrity and his apparent (to you and a few others) lack of
knowledge of new rules/laws or guidelines?
I can believe that you didn't like his amusing (or not)
one-liners but I am not convinced that the committee that
oversees their performance would have let him get away with a
failure to grasp the latest laws.
However, as has been posted elsewhere, there is an equally
evident choice in how laws are interrupted depending on the
league you play in, so there is plenty of inconsistency...

So it would seem that he was censured - I stand corrected -
QuincyJ: you have a point!

That’s not quite what the article says, though. It’s was
definitely never as strong as “censure” (which implies a formal
slap on the wrist) - it was a friendly warning that his recent
performances weren’t at a level to put him in contention for the
knock out rounds, and that if he wasn’t at that level then they
would probably take a less experienced ref to give them
experience.
Given that the RWC knockout games are the 8 highest profile
games in World Rugby and only 4 refs were chosen to handle them,
it was basically a message that his recent performances had him
on the borderline of between being just below that level. That’s
still in the top 5 or 6 in the world, but below the top 3
position he’d been used to.

I definitely think there was a good while where he was no.1 in
the world - I don't dislike the guy. But his performances
certainly dropped once he gained a bit more fame.
