HARLEQUINS NAME SQUAD FOR MONTPELLIER TRIP
Friday, 8th April 2022 @ 12:00
ONE CHANGE TO THE HARLEQUINS STARTING XV AS LOUIS LYNAGH STARTS
ON THE WING
Harlequins' coaching group have named their matchday squad that
will travel to the south of France to take on Montpellier in the
first leg of the Last 16 tie in the Heineken Champions Cup.
There is just one change to the starting XV as Louis Lynagh
starts on the wing in place of Luke Northmore. With Lynagh
starting in the fourteen jersey, Cadan Murley moves back into
his more familiar number eleven shirt.
After impressing in his first Gallagher Premiership start for
Quins, George Hammond retains his place in the forward pack and
starts as blindside flanker once again.
Amongst the impact players for Harlequins' trip to the Top 14
league leaders is Joe Gray who is set to make his first
appearance in Europe this season.
Senior Coach Tabai Matson said: “The Heineken Champions Cup is
special and it means a lot to the Club especially this season.
To be playing Montpellier who are the best team in France is a
fantastic challenge and to play away from home in the first leg
is going to be really intresting. Last week we spoke about
shutting the door on the Premiership for the time being and now
our full attention is on Europe and we're off to play one of the
best sides left in the competition.
“Montpellier have kicked the ball 50 times more than any other
team in the Top 14 and clearly we want to run the ball an awful
lot so it's going to be a real contrast of styles. This is what
Europe is all about, it's about facing teams who play different
to the way we want to play so it's a challenge we're all really
looking forward to as a group."

I was really looking forward to Esterhuizen vs Serfontein as it
would have been a brilliant battle. Both fighting to be DDA’s
back up in the Boks squad in my opinion. Shame Lewies is still
injured as that Montpellier pack is pretty sizeable.

Sizeable yes, but are they fit? If we keep away from scrums and
run them over the park then maybe...

Should be a cracking match. French sides love to dominate the
scrum but feel we have the props to stand up to them.
Shame none of Chisholm, Evans or Lewies are fit enough for the
bench. Wallace has been a great servant but not sure he's still
up to it at this level. Hope he proves me wrong!
Great to see Nick David back involved.

For once we're not cannon fodder in the European Cup, but 3rd
best in the prem vs best of France. Hopefully we can pull
another rabbit out the hat!
