       Sub during yellow cards

Can anyone explain to me why when Danny Care gets yellow carded
we don’t make a substitution so we can get Lewis Gjaltema on the
pitch? I believe I am correct in recalling that the last three
times he has been carded have been close to the end of the game
and when he has come back on to the pitch he has then been
subbed back off after a few minute anyway. I don’t understand
the benefit of struggling for ten minutes without a specialist
scrum half only to bring Danny back on for a few minutes before
then subbing him off. If you take Sunday’s game as an example we
could have taken a back rower (Lawday) off and brought Gjaltema
on and then when Danny had served his time we could have just
brought Wallace on. Thoughts please? The only explanation I can
come up with is that the coaches think it is useful for some
sort of scenario planning as understandably if it happens early
in the game then you might not want to sub Danny off.

Probably because the rest of the team can cover the various
roles of scrum half rather than sub off someone who might be
       needed later.

Basically Edwards has shown himself to be a good custodian of
the position for 10 minutes allowing the back row to remain
       intact.

Different way of looking at it: is DC running out of steam at
the 55 minute mark, and making silly mistakes in defence as a
result? That said, we seem to do ok with him off for a 10min
breather so maybe that’s the best way of getting him through the
       full game.

Edwards is a 10 who can play 9. Esterhuizen is a 12 who can
play 10. 11 to 15 are broadly multi positional (Murley aside).
The pack stays intact and the backs adapt.

Murley can play both wings and in the centres. He’s been great
       at all of them too.

The only position I would change would be front row, I see no
reason to change the 9. I do think DC needs to sort his
discipline out although the latest card was a bit meh. I think
he wasn’t going for the ball but the laws are the laws.

How long before the media start calling Edwards a specialist 9.5
       or something daft like that?

Combining the role of scrum and fly half, Adrian Stoop will be
       turning in his grave.
