Well, it depends on whether it's the club's fault. The club's
version is that they offered him a deal but it wasn't the deal
he wanted (1 year instead of 2, which feels a tad ironic now).

At what point have I denigrated him? I’ve been very clear that
I wish him well and good luck to him. I also believe he doesn’t
want to be at Quins any longer because, ya know, he’s signed for
       Saracens.

"I'd rather have an average player who wants to be here than a
magician who doesn't" and "Quins is bigger than one player" and
insisting that he doesn't want to be at Quins which implies some
negative emotion on his part that just doesn't appear to have
       any basis.
Plenty of us have really wanted to stay at some jobs but the
money just didn't make it work. Tizard's done nothing to suggest
that he's unhappy at Quins or not willing to give his all; he's
just been given a better financial opportunity elsewhere and has
taken it. You can want to be somewhere while still recognising
that the smart thing to do is to move on!
It's all well and good making grand statements about wanting
average players who "want to be here", but I bet you those
average players would be off in a heartbeat if someone offered
them a lot more than the club they were at.

You’re reading way too much into my comments. I’m not making
“grand statements”. Im just giving my opinion on a message
board. My interpretation of what has happened is different to
yours. Unlikely we will ever know what’s really gone on but you
don’t need to try and make my view out to be particularly
controversial- there are lots of Quins fans that hold it.

Fair enough. I don't think that lots of Quins fans would rather
we have worse players rather than highly talented ones who might
leave if we can't match the offers made by other teams, but hey,
no way to prove it either way.
