i don’t suppose there is any chance his contract with salarycens
       was signed in pencil?

Yeah, it's absolutely gutting to lose him. He's going to be a
       huge player.

We cannot keep all the players in the squad. Wages will be
rising for the likes of Smith, Murley and the likes of LYnagh
       and Keningham, let alone Green.
We are currently fairly well-stocked at lock at present. Symons
is still an absolute best in the tight, we will miss him if he
retires. He is playing very well at the moment, I guess it
depends on his body and how broken it might be. He is 32, but
came to the Premiership in 2015 after his failed Rowing career
       and time spent in NZ.
We also have Dino Lamb, who has bulked up and is the most likely
player to dovetail with a lighter lock, like Hammond and Lewies.
If Symons does not retire and then it may have been a straight
choice between him and Tizard. If Symons retires and Tizard
goes, we will need at least two new signings or another academy
       lock to step up.

Yeah a tough one to take, just glad he is showing how good he is
and that he's not switched off. An England star in the making
and playing alongside Itoje should help with that. I know that
this has the hallmarks of another Launchbury/Matthews situation
but I feel Lamb & Hammond are better than Matthews at the same
age so it hurts but losing anyone of the 3 was going to hurt.
I just hope we have a buy back clause in case Sarries don't pick
him or it doesn't work out.

       I don’t think it’s anything like the Launchbury/Mathews
situation. We let Launch go and by his own admission, he wasn’t
       fully focused at the time.
We didn’t let Tizard go voluntarily. We wanted to keep him but
Saracens gave him a better offer. I think it’s an unfortunate
case of money talking and we can’t keep everyone.
Gutting because he is already excellent and will only get
better, but without knowing all of the ins and outs, I’m not
sure there’s that much more we could have done.

Not sure why there would be - isn't Tizard just out of contract
       and moving to Saracens?

I'm not sure if rugby really tends to do "buy back clauses".
You'd think that if it doesn't work out, we have space / a need
and the finances can be agreed that we might be Tizard's
preferred option, but that's about it really.
The fact that Lewis is so often out injured makes Tizard leaving
more of a blow. And obviously the destination

I seem to have broken one of the rules of posting by not adding
a smiley/winky emoji after the buy back clause comment, didn't
mean to start a debate about the rules of Rugby contracts.
Sorry QC, don't agree re the similarities we are still
'choosing' to let a good young prospect go as we've not been
able to offer him what he could get elsewhere (money or game
time) to stay. Launchbury still looked a very good player before
we again, 'chose' to let him go by not putting an arm around or
convincing him to stay. Clearly I was not party to any of the
discussions at the time, anymore than anyone else on this board
but there are always choices good or bad that both clubs or
       players make.
