PROMISING FORWARD MATAS JUREVICIUS SIGNS NEW DEAL WITH
HARLEQUINS
Harlequins is delighted to announce that promising young forward
Matas Jurevicius has become the 19th player to sign new deal
with the Club this season.
A versatile forward able to play in both the second and back
row, Jurevicius re-signs following an impressive breakthrough
season this campaign, having earned his first senior start and
scored his first try in the Famous Quarters in the Premiership
Cup against Saracens in late 2020. In just eight appearances to
date, the dynamic forward has already played in the Prem Cup,
Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup.
Originally arriving at The Stoop in June 2020 from Greene King
IPA Championship side London Scottish, the 21-year-old made his
mark on senior rugby as a teenager going toe-to-toe against
tough Championship opposition and has gone from strength to
strength since joining Quins.
Thrilled to extend his time with the Club, Jurevicius said: “I’m
over the moon to sign a new deal here with Harlequins. It’s been
an invaluable opportunity to join a team that has helped me to
develop my game and take a step up in my career.
“I’ve been fortunate to play in two of the top club competitions
in the world within a team that plays the kind of rugby every
athlete wants to be part of. I’m delighted to recommit to Quins
and am excited for what the future holds with the Club.”
Lineout and Defence Coach Jerry Flannery said: “It’s great to
have Matas sign on again. He’s a dynamic young guy that has
taken the opportunities that have come his way lately with both
hands.
“Matas is the kind of energetic, athletic forward that suits the
Harlequins Way of playing so well and we’re excited to see him
compete within a strong group of forwards and continue his
development.”

I've seen plenty of others commenting recently about his really
promising performances so this is really pleasing to see.
