HARLEQUINS’ COACHING GROUP MAKE FIVE CHANGES TO STARTING XV FOR
SALE SHARKS PREM CUP CLASH
Harlequins look to bounce back following defeat away to London
Irish in the last round of Prem Cup action as Sale Sharks travel
to Twickenham tomorrow evening for Tuesday night rugby at The
Stoop.
Scott Steele continues to lead the side as skipper from nine
alongside Ross Chisholm in the halfback department, with one
change to the backline outside them. Impressive young wing
Cassius Cleaves looks to make his senior debut in the 11 jersey.
Cleaves’ addition sees Nick David shift to fullback.
Four further changes to the starting line-up come in the forward
pack this week. An all-new front row sees loosehead prop Jordan
Els and hooker Joe Gray return to the line-up while Academy
tighthead Rhys Litterick earns his first start following a Club
debut from the bench last time out.
The final change this week sees second row Christian
Scotland-Williamson return, with the former NFL man joining
George Hammond in the engine room. Shifting to the back-row at
blindside after a standout performance at second row last week,
Matas Jurevicius joins Will Evans and Viliami Taulani at the
back of the scrum.
Amongst the Impact Players this week backs Jake Murray and Bryn
Bradley look to add to the list of debutants for this mid-week
fixture.
Commenting ahead of tomorrow’s clash, Skills and Kicking Coach
Charlie Mulchrone said: “Once again, we are expecting nothing
but another tough test against what will be a physical Sale
Sharks side. We love playing under the lights at The Stoop so
I’m sure all the lads will be fired up and ready to go.
“This competition is a great chance to give some of our younger
lads valuable game time and first-team exposure. We had a couple
of debutants in Will Trenholm and Hayden Hyde last time out
against Irish and we’re excited to see a few more this week.”

Ok, that's different, clearly not going for the win then :-)
Good to see some other names on there like CSW and Hyde.
Jurevicius keeping his place in the starting XV is great and
David at FB as we're possibly on the cusp of bad news about
Tyrone.

Sale Sharks welcome James Harper and Simon Hammersley
back to the squad along with a host of young talent as Neil
Briggs takes charge again for a midweek Premiership Rugby Cup
clash with Harlequins at the Stoop (KO – 7.45pm, Tuesday, March
30)
The club’s Academy Transition Manager leads a team showing
wholesale changes from Sharks’ Premiership draw with Bath at the
weekend with only Jack Metcalf and Tom Curtis retained.
Elsewhere, prop James Harper features in a matchday squad for
the first time this season after returning from a serious knee
injury, while Simon Hammersley starts after recovering from a
hamstring strain.
Briggs names a powerful front-row for the clash with last
season’s Premiership champions, with academy stars Ben Carlile
and Cal Ford starting either side of skipper for the day Tommy
Taylor.
Dom Barrow links up again with Matt Postlethwaite in the
second-row, while Ethan Caine switches to the number seven shirt
to join Ewan Murphy and Rouban Birch in the back-row.
Kieran Wilkinson returns to start at fly-half and he’s joined at
half-back by the experience of Will Cliff.
Tom Curtis and Joe Bedlow team up in an exciting centre pairing,
while Jack Metcalf and Hammersley will provide the pace on the
wings.
After impressing in the last PRC game against Wasps, the
explosive Joe Carpenter gets another chance to start at
full-back.
The Sharks bench is loaded with yet more young talent as James
Gulliver gets a chance to impress.
Trialist Ben Bamber features again as a replacement along with
academy stars Harper, Tumy Onasanya, Nye Thomas and Elliott
Gourlay.
