ENGLAND MEN AND WOMEN TAKE ON THE NETHERLANDS ON 4TH AND 5TH
JUNE
International hockey will return to the Twickenham Stoop this
June when England take on the Netherlands in the FIH Hockey Pro
League.
It will be three years since Big Stadium Hockey made its first
appearance at the home of Quins and the pitch turned blue. Back
in 2019 Great Britain won both matches, so it’s a return to
winning turf.
You can expect all the speed, excitement, skills and end to end
action as some of the world’s best line up against each other.
The FIH Pro League is the annual competition where the best
men's and women's hockey teams in the world go head-to-head with
each other to see who will be crowned champions.
This time round there will be two days of action at The Stoop on
what is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend (4-5 June) with a
double bank holiday on the Thursday and Friday.
England’s women and men host the Dutch in back-to-back double
headers, and it’s set to be the biggest hockey weekend this
country has seen since London 2012.
England’s teams are likely to feature a number of Team GB
Olympians from Tokyo including some of the women’s bronze medal
winning squad, as well as some new faces to the senior
international scene. The Netherlands women are the reigning
Olympic champions and the men current European champions, so the
level of competition and rivalry doesn’t get any higher. As well
two games each day, there’s a host of entertainment on and off
the pitch making it a great day out with friends and family.

Hopefully our home semi final will be the following week so they
better not mess the pitch up!

The hockey is on astro, I believe the hockey pitch is suspended
above the real grass.

I don't think he has. I think that was a mis-reading of hoping
to be there for the final.

No, it's a worse mis-reading than that - he literally said
nothing of the sort.
He said the women's team aren't currently on the schedule for
the Glos game because.......
"The Club note that the event day is outside the regular season
for the Allianz Premier 15s and at this point it is not clear if
Harlequins Women will be playing. Should Harlequins qualify with
home advantage for the Allianz 15s Semi Finals, our intention is
to work with all relevant stakeholders to review if the match
could be switched to Twickenham Stadium."

Thanks, championes, I knew it was something like that but
couldn't remember the exact circumstances that were misread. So,
just to be clear:
The Gloucester game is at Twickenham Stadium. If Quins Women get
a home semi-final of the Premier15s, then the club wants to move
THAT game to be a part of the Big Summer Kick-off in the same
way that the women played before the men at Christmas in BG 13
If we get a home semi-final in the Premiership, it is going to
be at The Stoop. Given the way the table is so tight at the
moment, it's possible the Home semi-finalists won't be known
until 7 days before the semis are going to take place. Even with
the best of intentions, I doubt even we'd be able to sell enough
tickets to cover costs if we were to try to move the game
"across the road"!
