I understand what you're saying! It's just that this is not
dissimilar to how NZ approached things - they did early
structure, but then wanted the game to break up so that the
instinctive play and pace of Barrett, Israel Dagg, Ben Smith,
Conrad Smith et al could stretch the game and inevitably make
       linebreaks.
Completely agree that structured defences came first (thanks Rod
MacQueen & John Muggleton) and that structured attack was a
response to it, but there have been sides that were willing to
back instinct and flexibility simply because their player base
was suited to it (the Aussie side of Cooper/Genia/O'Connor, the
various Kiwi sides of the last 20 years). They didn't play
totally unstructured games but I'd say that they were more than
happy to develop these off-the-cuff bits of play that England
are allegedly doing - wanting to be flexible in order to give
Smith the situations he requires to create/make line breaks is
laudable, but it's not a revolutionary approach.
Although in the context of the Six Nations it might well be.

Side note, something Austin Healey brought up in his media spat
with Eddie - England keep chopping and changing their style. I
don't believe we've actually seen a style produced by England
with/for Smith yet, but whatever we come up with I hope we
actually stick with it for a while. It's been a very confused
team; we actually produced a really good game plan for the 2019
World Cup which Eddie deserves all the credit for, but for a
while before than and definitely since then we've been all over
       the place.

EJ should of left after the last WC. Since then he’s ran out of
ideas and as the next WC edges closer, blaming things on a new
       young England isn’t washing anymore.
There’s no real direction or identifiable plan, and we certainly
       don’t look fluid.

For me he should’ve gone post 6 nations 2021. Would’ve been
harsh to sack him post WC final and after winning the 6 nations
in 2020. Despite winning the autumn nations cup, England played
dire rugby throughout that and the 2021 6 nations should’ve been
       the final straw.
Anyway we’re stuck with him until 2023.

Literally anyone who knows rugby wouldn’t have had him starting
it yet again even in the squad. Game is gone which is a shame.
The best result now is we are hammered and Ej is sacked after we
       lose against France.
Maybe outside chance did Ireland doing something stupid to get
things level but I doubt it, because they are a professional
side with good coaching and good application

I’ve never remotely got Ewels. Launchbury is on a different
       planet even at 90% fitness.
