JAMES CHISHOLM SIGNS NEW DEAL

HARLEQUINS IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT BACKROW JAMES CHISHOLM
HAS BECOME THE LATEST PLAYER TO SIGN A NEW DEAL WITH THE CLUB
A product of the Harlequins Academy, Chisholm, 26, is the 18th
player to recommit his future to the Premiership champions this
season, with the Club also announcing new deals for coaching
trio Nick Evans, Adam Jones and Jerry Flannery last month.
Able to play across the backrow Chisholm has become one of the
Club’s standout players since graduating from the Academy, with
his dynamism across the field making him well-suited to the
Club’s famously expansive brand of rugby. Debuting during the
2013/14 season against Exeter Chiefs from the bench, Chisholm
has gone on to represent the Club on 123 occasions to date,
scoring 18 tries.
A standout during age-grade rugby, Chisholm was named World
Rugby U20 Championship Player of the Year in 2015 having helped
England U20 claim the Six Nations title that year and the Junior
World Championship in 2014.
Chisholm continued his promising progression as he established
himself as a regular starter for Quins, sweeping the Players’
Player of the Season, DHL Player of the Season and Nick Duncombe
Young Player of the Season at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
2017/18 was similarly prolific for the dynamic forward, again
winning the DHL Player of the Season award and also being
awarded the captaincy for Quins' Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign.
Commenting on his new deal, Chisholm said: “I am really pleased
to have extended my time at Quins. In the eight and a half years
I’ve been at the Club I can honestly say it’s the best and most
enjoyable it’s ever been at the moment and I’m very excited to
re-sign.”
Harlequins’ Head Coach Tabai Matson said: “It’s fantastic to
have Chis re-sign with us. He’s a player whose quality is hugely
respected across the league. His impact from the bench in
returning from injury against Bristol in the semi-final last
season is perhaps one of the most obvious examples of his
quality.
“What is perhaps one of the most impressive parts of James’ game
is his ability to be so dynamic across the park within that
classic Quins style of play whilst also dominating physically in
the contact area. We’re delighted to have such an important
member of our squad and someone that brings so much energy
throughout the week sign on again at The Stoop.”

Very nice, another player not greatly known outside Quins but
you certainly know him when he's on the pitch.

This is interesting. It looks as though he only signed a 1-year
deal last year.
I wonder if this is also a 1-year deal.

Perhaps only short deals as he has suffered from a lot of
injuries in the past few years?

Good news as our squad is better with him in it. It remains to
be seen how much we will see him, as it does appear he is absent
more than he is here for one reason or another. I'm hoping he
isn't going to be Clifford Mk2 in wasted promise but an early
exit from injuries taking their toll.
Hopefully he can turn a corner and get a good uninterrupted run
in the side

In the interview, Baby Chis refers to "this season and the next
two", so more than a one year deal this time I think.

Sean Dyche’s double is a cracking player. Hopefully the injuries
are behind him.

Great news on two fronts as he’s a great player for us and it
would indicate that whatever the injury he has it’s fixable.
