As mentioned, Ealing if they wanted to could certainly build a
few new stands, should planning permission be granted.
I’ve also played there, and grew up round the corner from the
ground, so really a stand named after me would be fitting.

No transport infrastructure at Ealing for a 12,000 crowd, and
why put the club at risk as there isn't the core support at
Ealing to attract crowds of that size.

It’s a tough choice: name a stand after Maidstone Quin and
suffer the reputational damage or go for promotion and inflate
financial risk…😉

Ealing had said they’d increase the capacity to 7,500 next year
and 9,000 the year after - given that half the clubs in the prem
regularly fail to get anywhere near 10,000 through the door this
seems as though it’s an attempt to ring fence through
regulation.

It is not about how many turn up. It is about safety capacity
for high level sport as laid out in DCMS guidance

I suggest that only those that have been to Ealing are in a
position to really comment, Ground is very new and facilities
are extremely limited, its not easy to increase capacity without
taking out an artificial pitch on one side of the ground. There
is no significant car parking, and its a 15 min bus ride to the
nearest station. I have been there a few times to see Broncos
and they had crowds of 500, the thought of 7500 there doesn't
bare thinking about. I don't really believe Ealing wanted
promotion as they can never have expected it to be approved.

That might be so but it's just totally unnecessary. If you've
got turnstiles and your 5,000 capacity stadium is full, nobody
else can get in. It's just red tape to prevent these teams from
accessing the premiership.

Have you been there? If you have you will know they currently
have 1 entry point

No I haven't been there. I understand that, but surely that's
only a problem if they expand to 10k capacity and still only
have 1 entry point?
If their ground can fit 5k people, then the ground is suitable
to hold 5k people...no? Anybody else without a ticket can't get
in. So at what point does a safety issue arise? You wont get 5k
people all turning up within the same 15 minutes.

The problem is not entry but exit. In any instance egress with a
single point of exit creates potential for trouble, even with
just 500, as a large proportion will want to leave at the finish
of the game. If there were an incident needing ground evacuation
this could lead to a time delay which is unacceptable from a
safety aspect. The worst situation would be if the incident were
near the single exit point such that it was unsafe to use, how
do you cope there? With 500 the crowd can be moved to the
opposite area (assuming safe), but with a 5,000 capacity crowd
this would no longer be an option.
Never having been to Ealing I would be interested to know if
there are additional emergency exits which can be opened in
extremis.
