FIVE CHANGES FOR HARLEQUINS WOMEN'S TRIP TO DMP
GERARD MULLEN MAKES A HANDFUL OF CHANGES FOR AWAY TRIP TO THE
NORTH EAST
Harlequins Women Head Coach Gerard Mullen has named his matchday
squad that will travel up to the North East on Saturday
afternoon to take on DMP Durham Sharks in Round 15 of the
Allianz Premier 15s.
Quins make five changes to the starting XV which includes a
whole new front row with Hannah Duffy, Rosie Dobson and Chloe
Edwards all getting the nod.
The back five remains the same as Sarah Beckett captains the
side for the first time as a Harlequin.
There are two changes in the back field as Ella Amory and Jade
Mullen start on the wing and full back respectively.
Shaunagh Brown, Racheal Burford and the returning Emily Scott
are all amongst the Impact Players for the trip to Darlington.
Looking ahead to the important clash, Mullen said: “We’ve taken
a bit out of the training week after five tough weeks of
training for the girls so they can rest up a little bit. We’re a
bit broken at the moment as a squad so hopefully they’ll be back
raring to go ahead of two important games for us.
“We’ll be fully focused on ourselves this weekend, making sure
we stay true to our own standards with our aim being to secure
all five points and keep our winning momentum going as we
approach the business end of the season.”

Interesting. I wonder if the starting front row are just rested
or if they are paying the price for a bad day at the office last
week. The Sale scrum had them on toast.
Always good to see a fellow Belgian on the team sheet!

The momentum changed though when Brown came off. I think that
she may have been struggling with a knock.
Once she came off, the scrum was okay.
But, although I think that Brown is a great player, I do think
that she was better playing in the back row.

Agree about Brown: terrific player but I always think wasted in
the front row.

They are playing the Whipping team so they are probably resting
some and giving others game time for this one.

I'm pretty sure Bath, Leicester and Northampton used to say the
same about Harlequins from 1995 to 2000.

Do you only watch the womens games to criticise everything
Wirralquin because you don’t have a good word to say but you
seem to watch a lot of it. A paradox or an oxymoron?

To be fair, he doesn't often have a good word to say about the
men's team either! I have to say, it doesn't seem like a
particularly fulfilling way to spend one's time, but each to
their own I guess.
