We're fortunate to have Allan and Edwards battling it out. Its
not that long ago I was tearing my hair out watching Herron so
very happy with either!

I think it’s hard to judge them purely on starts.
Allan has had a tough time - three injuries in his first half
season - and has arguably been targeted by opposing teams. He’s
also had the misfortune to play at the peak of injury crises
elsewhere. When he’s been fit and had a stable team around him
he’s proven capable of running the back line efficiently but not
of turning a game.
Edwards has been a very pleasant surprise - possibly our best
new signing after Walker. He’s been thrown in at the deep end
and performed very well, suits our playing style and does seem
to have that attacking spark (while also from what i have seen
being pretty brave and committed in defence). However, he does
have gaps in his game as a result of his sevens heritage: he’s
nowhere near as experienced at controlling space as Allan, and
he’s prone to trying to sneak yards when moving the ball on or
kicking would be the better option.
Allan is still probably the best backup flyhalf we’ve had, but
the team need to do a better job of protecting him from cheap
shots, and he will get better as our squad get more experience
of playing together. Edwards will also improve, but probably
more as a consequence of his own development as a 15s player.
If Edwards continues to develop (and especially if Benson also
starts to come through), I could see Allan leaving at the end of
his contract. But for the time being I think we should just
enjoy the depth we have at fly half for once.

Edwards needs to go out for a few hours with a sack of rugby
balls and a kicking tee. His place kicking is poor. We may have
a game where we need those 2 points at the end to win the game.
Currently, I don't have confidence that he would get them.
Or, we need a backup kicker on the field.

To rank the players based on the win percentages when they start
is pretty meaningless really. So many other factors to consider.
It's a pleasant surprise that our third choice 10 can start and
it's not a huge concern. Keeps Allan on his toes too, and gives
us additional options. Allan could do with a run with more first
choice players around him, but I guess when either of these two
start, it'll usually be in a team without marler (other than
rest weekends), marchant and dombrandt

This is a really fair analysis. Really lucky to have two
serviceable options when Smith is gone. I think Edwards has
gotten better as the year goes on, for sure. We played
differently to protect him when he came on vs saracens whereas
the last couple of times he's played, we have operated as normal
and he's run things well. If he sticks as the no2 and neither
Allan nor Benson works out long term, you need to play another
back who can kick goals. In terms of running the show on the
field, he's more than good enough an option while Marcus is
gone.
Also, wins are not a FH stat. You have to look at the situation
they're being put in. Allan playing behind a callow pack against
a massive sale forward unit and Edwards playing behind our title
winning pack at the big hame are manifestly not the same.
Both have their upsides and its nice to have options.

Perhaps if you’re bored you could have put more effort in to
your analysis and research rather than relying on one data point
that conveniently fits your agenda of denigrating Allan.
Is it his fault Italy are a poor team? For a long time, he was
one of their best players and is a very good player. We haven’t
seen the best of him yet, but to dismiss him because he played
for Italy is ignorant and poorly researched.

Germany, or Russia are very poor, Italy is an average side, but
are young and are improving, but last/this year, other sides
whom they regularly play have improved more, with more resources
available to them.
I hope Italy remain in the 6 Nations but also feel that there is
a case for relegation/promotion via two-legged play-off with
Euro 6N Div 2 (or whatever it's called).
I don't feel S.A. should be allowed in to 6N, but with so many
of their players being here I can see why people are tempted to
include them. Tinkering with present 6N (to include S.A.) will
result in ructions down under and may well end up with 6N
merging with 4N and then losing both to a global thing - which
some might like, but I think most still want the 6N to continue.

Just watched the full Wasps game on PRTV. Edwards was good but
so was Allan when he came on. I'm happy with both tbh.

Where did i dismiss him just because he played for Italy, I
mentioned that just because he's an international that doesn't
make him a great player!
As for calling me ignorant, grow up.
